Cam Seal?
90 D15B. Does the cam have to be removed to replace the seal correctly? I have a new seal and seems to be leaking. This car is turning out to be a real lemon. Less than 100k and the cat clogged causing me all kinds of problems. Thanks Honda. Should have bought another Nissan. My 35 yr old Chevy truck never gives me problems.
yes the rocker assembly needs to be removed in order to get to the seal.
its also a good idea to break the bolt that attaches the cam pulley off before you take the timing belt off. its usually on there pretty good and hard to unbolt when its just the cam.

The guy who did my timing belt put the seal in after the cam and rockers were installed. He just pushed it in with his fingers. Didnt put oil on the lip either. I have had an oil leak coming from this side of the engine since. It drips a little after i shut off the engine. Now he refuses to come fix it because he got a "real" job working in a garage. The timing belt turned out alright so far. I guess i will have to pay someone to fix his f**k ups. Its hard to find good help now days. Even with all the unemployment.
i usually just lossen the bolts where the seal sits in,take the old out and push the new one in,put a silicone thats meant for cam seals(if u cant find it get it from toyota) and tighten to spec...
