1994 GSR, blew my engine.... what do I do now?
So last night I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden my car stopped running. Turns out my timing belt broke, causing some major damage to my engine. Now I basically have a GSR with a non-working engine. I'm probably going to sell it off and cut my losses
. It's got a lot of stuff in it like Kenwood In-Dash TV, amp, sub, springs, tinted windows, etc... how much do you guys think I should sell it for? Thanks for all your help.

Just get a used head and you should be alright. I'd take the current head off though and make sure you didn't damage the pistons too badly(but you usually won't).
The damage might not be that bad...
If you do sell your car, expect to get about $3,500-4,000 less than what it's worth.

My mechanic took a look at it last night... I DID damage the pistons. He says with GSR engines a broken timing belt is BAD news.
you can rebuild the parts
honda piston & rods
300-500
new valves
200 ish
engine shop rebuilding everything 600-1000 (1k in my area)
paying someone to take out the engine then put it back in. you can save money, and take out the engine yourself
400-1000
misc rebuild parts
200
rebuilding your car is still cheaper than buying a new one. once you do that, once you rebuid your engine, you should be able to hit 150k~ miles. just replace your timiling belt every 40-65k

just replace all the parts that where damaged. Now would be a great time to build up your valve train and get higher compresion pistons. Make the most of it it is not like you threw a rod throught the thing. just my .02
