I head if it was carbureted its very expensive to swap if your looking for an OBD-1 engine or anything like that. You have to change all your wiring before you even think of swaping.

as for swapping right in the easiest, it would be the D16a1 out of an 86-89 Acura Integra. That's what the 84-87 Civics/CRX's came with in foriegn countries.

here are some pics of the sapw geting wrapped up.
List of general items you will need.

Engine (b20a/b21a are not the same as b20b/b16/b18a1/b18b1/b18c1)
Transmission (cable preferred, but conversions for cable to hydro are available)
Axles (hasport can make and still has some available)
Mounts
Wiring
Ecu

Engine/Transmission
Prelude Engines are not appliacble to this swap information
the wiki is here

Engines can be sourced from 90-01 Intgra, 99-2000 Civic Si, And Crv 95-01. Transmissions can only come from 90-01 integra Manual, and 99-00 Civic Si.
As well, if you request any engine/transmission applicable to these cars for your Local Japaneese Importer, he will provide you with a JDM compatible engine

Axles/Mounts
Hasport Has mounts and axles readily availble.
you wil need a 90-93 intermediate shaft.
94-01 Integra /99-00 Si axles and intermediate shafts are too wide and hit and bind a bit
Hapsort Axles
Hapsort Mounts Hydro or Cable transmission

Wiring/Ecu

Wiring can be transplanted from si Civic/CRX models from 86-91. you will need to depin and repin for the ecu. Dx models are either carbed or Dual Point injection. you may choose to transplant a full obd1 or obd2 firewall harness into the car. a good many of the plus are plug and play. specifics are way to detailed to go into into this post. if you choose to maintain the OBD0 wiring, you can add a jumper harness for obd1 conversion to use a newer ecu. obd0 ecu is only compatible with obd0 Distributor. Obd1 and Obd2 are compatible with either ecu/dizzy combo but not compatible with obd0.
