does size matter?
so i recenty put 18 inch enkies on my cb7 and to me it seems slower just because it doesnt do a burn out as easy when i get on it when i take off. do i still have the same get up as stock just the wheels are to heavy to easily peel out? just curious thanks
Wheel weight (and size) definitely have an effect on perceived power. If you went with a wider tire you would also have more trouble doing burnouts due to more traction.
so its a good thing then? does it effect the performance at all or would i rather have a heavy rim with wider tires or stock wheels that have trouble keeping traction?
It all depends on what you like. The heavy rims will "rob" power from the engine as they are harder to get turning but the wider tire will add to traction (if you DID end up going with a wider tire.)
I just got rid of some 18" Enkei's and I can tell you that those big rims take a lot of power to get moving due to the increased unspring weight. It's NOT a good thing. it's not a traction issue. It's a lack of horsepower issue at take off-to put it plainly. If you are TRULY having traction issues then get a set of traction bars. But I doubt you are.

If you want to try and gain acceleration, invest in a light-weight wheel that allows you to run properly sized, wide tire. For your particular car, 15" wheels would be ideal in that regard. Something like the Konig Eco1, will offer huge gains.
