I needed to go to the professionals and find out exactly what it is that I have here. From the looks of it on the outside I am seeing what looks like a Type R Integra...but the more I dig I am getting some different things that I just don't understand. Any input would be much appreciated.

Here is what I see....
-VIN decoder pulls this car as a 1998 Integra GS-R.
-Everything outside looks wise on the car makes it look like a Type R. (ie:skirts, spoiler, front clip...underside has all the stabilizers.)
-The engine code is a B18C (This has been confusing because everything I have read is showing either B18C or B18C5 for the engine code of a Type R
-The dash and gauges are correct 10k RPM gauges.

-The wheels are only 4 lug...my understanding and research is pointing towards them having 5 if it's a Type R
-The interior is not Recaro seating...from what I was reading it should be if it's a Type R.

Again...it really has me stumped for some reason and I just am not finding the right answers for some reason.

yea, your car is a gsr with possibly a jdm type r motor or a jdm gsr motor, but regardless your car looks real clean

 

Ok that's what I was thinking. The engine was just completely rebuilt and it has about 100 miles on the rebuild...very very excited to see what it can do once I get through the break in period!!!

 

its a super sonic blue GS-R w/type R front lip & spoiler & stickers, b18c could be jdm gsr or type r, engine bay pic?

type R doesnt have sunroof

looks to be a type r motor, if that first radiator hose sits under the dizzy then bingo jdm type r

 

I will take some more pics of the engine and put them up.

 

Also, your doors have side moldings. Type R's didnt have them.

The best way to check if you have a type R motor or a GSR motor is by the intake manifold design. That to me looks like a pr3 manifold so I'd say type R.


Also, Type R's did come in 4 bolt pattern wheels, in the UK I believe, but NOT 4x100, rather 4x114.3

The rims you have are GSR Blades so those are 4x100, but here is a picture of a genuine type R on 4 lug.

 

Ok ok...it's all starting to come together now. Thank you all again for any input that you are giving me. Here are some misc pics of the engine I just took.

 

It;s a JDM GSR motor with a first gen skunk2 IM or a blox.

 

GDM GSR....Good....bad....doesn't matter???

Ignore those last two posts. I will do some digging around on that one instead of wasting the forums time.

 

It's probably an JDM ITR motor or a JDM GS-R motor with a PR3 head. Look at the upper radiator hose housing. The GS-R P72 heads have the housing closer to the exhaust side of the head, not the intake.

 

I believe you are right. I just looked at my gsr. It is different

 

Gotta love cars...ok so now I pretty much just need to search out the ITR motor and kind of the history of that right? It seems that just one small letter off on this thing and you have a whole different thing.

Are those GS-R seats? The interior looks weird to me.

leather was optional until 99 and im pretty sure those are the cloth gsr seats

 

Ewww. Must have been a gas leak the day they agreed on that design.

I've got a 96 GS-R with cloth seats and they don't look like that. Mine are much darker (almost black) and the pattern is ghosted. Maybe there were two color options?

Cloth GS-Rs also have cloth inserts by the door pull and leather GS-Rs had the stitched leather. His look like vinyl.

 

you have a GSR that someone wanted to pass off as a Type R i bet....it happens a lot in my area...get a LS or if you are lucky find a RS put a type r swap and 5 lug swap on it and sell it for WAAAAAAAY more than its worth
