Icon2 WEIRD Issues.... electrical??

Hope you guys are well!

Been a while since I've been on here...

I have a 2000 Accord LX sedan, auto 4 cyl., with just over 160,000 miles.

So here's the issue: When I use my high beams, the whole car seems on the verge of stalling. The check engine light flashes on, the stereo shorts out, loss of brightness in my headlights. As soon as I release the high beams, the car seems to go back to normal, no more check engine light, stereo goes back to normal, etc.

The last time I used them, the whole car seemed to cut out, same symptoms as before AND I lost all my radio settings.

Any ideas?? Thanks in advance

Sounds like an alternator charging issue or more precisely a problem in the charging signal from the ELD/ECU issue. Check the power and ground connections and make sure they are all clean and tight. Battery cables, under dash fuse box and the alternator wires.

How strong is your battery?

My battery is brand new.

When I use my power windows my lights dim down for about a second. Now my car completely shuts off when I use the high beam too.

I'll the suggested areas and let you know what I find.

what Ghost said. I would check the alternator first, hook a voltmeter up to the battery and see what voltage your alternators putting out.

Also, check the high beam circuits for a shorted or grounded wire. This will dump all the current from your alternator to ground, and put a heavy load on the engine.

Alternator wires and battery cables are clean and tight. Need to check battery voltage, if only to confirm the new battery is good.

CDelgado220:
No I don't have and HID kit.

The problem is now intermittent. The engine wouldn't shut off when I high beamed today whilst checking the engine. Son.ofabitch....
