Icon2 Random Rough Idle, Help?

Hey all, the car about a week ago id say started to develop a rather sudden rough idle, (on top of the fact its cold out up here in WI) it is boosted so it use to idle around 1500. but now it drops from to 2k then goes to 1k.... sometimes it will randomly sit at 2k until i touch something, it does it when i come to a stop even while in 1st, or when im in neutral just coasting. So im wondering what to do.

Besides the obvious of
-Vac lines (even though my boost gauge is still reading normal so i dont think i have a vac leak)
-Clean my injectors
-Check Coolant

what else could it be? I mean ontop of this it also JUST started to drop (not burn) oil, and im pretty sure its a drip cause i can smell it under the hood and its not coming out the exhaust at all, so maybe they are going hand in hand?? any ideals are appreciated! thanks in advance and if i can think of anything else ill update this.

Sincerely, Alex.

I'd try pouring a half can of Sea Foam in the tank. Other than that, I can't think of anything

a little update.

jdmcertified909 - I looked and did some of that thread cleaned my IACV and it runs a bit better but still has the rough idle... so im back at square 1... but with the exception of its not the IACV..

So now im gonna
-Re-look at my coolant system, make sure its full and bleed it again to make sure i have no air.
-Possibly look at my thermo.. a buddy said it could be stuck (open or not enough?)
-Vac lines. (even though im like 99% sure its not vac related cause my vac pressure is the same as before this problem started and im still hitting boost if not even harder then I was before)
-any other ideas I can get. Thanks again its been a big help sorting out the issues and possibilities.

Are you sure it didnt have one? Its a o-ring type gasket. They get old and crack from the heat intake heat+coolant goes thru it. It might not look cracked but could be

o yea i had the double black rubber o ring, and it was fine. but i found something strange. I went to bleed my coolant while the car was running, and the coolant would only come out of the bleeder nipple at the higher rpms, almost a surge type deal.

AIR!

At least on all the Honda's I've had, at idle there would be a steady stream of coolant once the bleeder is opened...

EDIT: 81, 85, 86, 87, 88, two 89's, 95 and the current 94 (all Accords) in case you want to know.

well, its not my coolant im pretty sure... simply cause I can not bleed it correctly with this issue.. I open the bleeder and when its higher rpms it comes out when the rpms drop its lower... so im thinking its a sensor somewhere.... cause the throttle does not move when it rpms are bouncing. plus this issue came out of litteraly know where about ALMOST i wanna see 2-3 weeks ago? any ideas on the sensors to focus on?

It is air in the coolant. Or it could be a bad head gasket. Doing a crx and that was the complaint didnt bleed right. I filled it with antifreeze and bleed it right. Open the cap and realized bubbles in the radiator. And when it didnt bubble antifreeze would go up and down when on high n low rpms. But make sure you bleed it right. I let them get hot with enough coolant un the system then when its hot open the bleeder nippleand ffill the radiator a keep filling it until you see a STEADY STREAM of antifreeze i lot of people dont do it right as soon as people see a STREAM they close it.but they dont bleed with a STEADY STREAM .

So after RE reading the Cleaning IACV blah blah blah thread, I went outside and unplugged my IACV and started my car, much to my surprise the following happened.

It started right up, went to 1500rpms and sat there almost as if the rev limiter was 1500 (for those of you that know what im talking about it seemed my car was 2 stepping at 1500 rpms) now my car is i believed tuned and has an ecu from a 95' cx (I believe)

so does this mean my IACV is simply bad even though I cleaned it?

so since you can't bleed the coolant...that can't be the issue

Don't know what else to tell you...Good luck.

That was the next thing i was gonna suggest disconnect it and see if your idle smooths out. Bad iacv chane it for a well known working one

I am not sure but is your IACV on the bottom of your intake? I know on the civic d16y8 it is and you can not really see it from the top.

If you can get it out clean it with carb cleaner.

Also clean your throttle body.

well iv cleaned it twice, and its not any better or any different.. I unpluged it and its as thought my rev limiter is at 1500 and it just sits there and bounces 1400-1500 over and over and over again so im gonna have my buddy take his IACV off bring it over and then see if my car works fine, if so im gonna get one off ebay for 30$. otherwise its back to square one and I havent a single clue. also I did clean my TB

What year is this and is it the factory motor....I ask as some of the 4th gens had the air boost valve that can give the same issues......then let's not forget the lowly PCV valve can also show the same signs.

I'm still with air but willing to give other ideas.

Its a 1994 Accord Ex, F22b1 (correct motor that came factory, but Im not 100% it is the actual factory one).

Well the guy that has a 94 like mine flaked out...
and he said "unplug the iacv, if it still runs the very same as it does when its plug in then thats the problem"

but iv heard
"unplug it and if it smooths out then thats the problem"

and mine is weird cause it seems when people unplug theirs, the car wants to die but mine.... when unplugged just sits at 1500 and bounces down like 100 (as if 1500 is reline)
so im just gonna buy the damn iacv and hope thats the problem
