Default turbo similar to ebay turbo

I have been contemplating slapping a snail on my car, but due to my low budget, I have some questions to ask. First of all, I know everyone says "oh another ebay turbo kit thread" but I am asking a question that I have searched for. Anyways, I would like to purchase an Ebay kit and scrap the turbo but use everything else that seems up to standard. What are the ebay turbo's supposed to be a copy of? What I plan on doing is buying the kit, purchasing a better turbo, wastegate, and bov. However I would like to be able to just put on the higher quality parts, and not have to once again have to worry about fitment of the kit, just somthing to bolt right back in its place and not have to worry. So basically what I am asking is, what are ebay turbos susposed to be a "clone" of?

You can not go cheap on the turbo, injectors and tune. Without those 3 working correctly....boom

Stay NA, converting a NA car to forced induction isnt for people on a budget. You need pleanty of cash there incase something goes wrong, and most of the time it's not as straight forward as you'd expect it to be. Meaning you'll be spending even more cash.

i agree 100%! i wanted to build 500-600hp car then i reallized how much research and money is going to make it do that to keep it in tip top shape and reliable. so since i was going to spend all that money i just desided to go all out and build a true street car and now its thousands on thousands and more. try and keep things simple if your not building a race car.

Take your time, save your money, and piece a kit together that is what you would want. Do it once, do it right! Your not going to want to get re-tuned every single time you change out a "cheaper" part for something better.

if you plan on replacing the turbo, wastegate, and bov then you have basically replaced the whole entire kit minus the manifold ic and piping lol so why do it? and you say you will replace those eventually? matter of fact you will more than likely HAVE to replace them sooner than you think.

do as others said, do your research, research some more, and in those months of researching and planning your goals be saving. the more you know the better and that way you only spend your hard earned money once. its not a race to turbo your car so dont cheap out and in the end you will be very pleased

hahaha If you ditch the turbo, bov, wastegate you will basically have intercooler and tubing that you can buy for 170 not 700-900......

Type in intercooler kit in ebay..... your welcome.

^intercoolers off of ebay have been proven to be not as good quality as name brand ic's so why recommend something off of ebay for a turbo kit?

I kind of understand how he's going about this, Basically buying the cheap kit to get the car ready and buy better parts later on, and upgrade according to his budget. It's more money in the long run, but it's a start.

but i think we are all trying to save him a headache, time, and lots of money being wasted. look around here on HT and see what others are throwing together that they proven are reliable and just go from there. you def will save a ton of money. take this for instance. i needed an intercooler, piping, clamps, intake mani, TB for my TS setup. i waited to see what people were selling on the drag race forum or marketplace and waited for the perfect parts and price. i eneded up scoring big with a one peice charge pipe with all vibrant clamps (clamps cost $100x3 new) got a nice shape victorx with 75mmTB with vibrant flange and adaptor plate, a custom dual back door 700hp precision intercooler, and a 50mm tial bov on the intercooler for a lil over $800 all in mint shape. now compare that to what you will spend on the junk ebay stuff and thats you just paying for half of it casue you are getting rid of the rest. be patient and let it come to you.
