Default *Need suggestions on my lsvtec setup*

So.. I have a 91 CRX with an ls VTEC set up (b18a1 block/ b16 si head) with gsr cams, 68mm throttle body, intake, dc header, test pipe, and full exhaust. I might be selling my second car and setting my rex up as much as I can for a dd. I've contemplated going turbo, supercharged, or all motor. I'm looking for 300 whp on a reliable dd. Budget will be $2000 more or less. What would you do?

whatever route you choose you'll have to get it tuned if you keep doing upgrades. Unless you have someone who will do it for free or cheap then your gonna have to pay a bit for that plus you'll have to get something like Hondata to tune it with. So if you get a full tune plus hondata s300 (which you have to do if you boost) your looking at like $700-$800 right there just to have it tuned. Buying the hondata itself and then having it tuned.

With that budget you'll never make 300hp N/A. Making that power with out forced induction is big bucks!

If you turbo or super charge, your only left with $1200-$1300 after tune price. That won't get you anything reliable for an entire kit.

Just my opinion. Don't get an ebay turbo either.
Also if you ever consider doing any hard launches or tracking with that much HP then you should do a LSD tranny so you don't blow it up and that will be another $1000 right there. You can skip it if you don't accelerate hard during corners or do any burn outs, but if you do that, you have the risk of losing your tranny.

just my .02

wow, 800 bucks for tuning?

you dont need the hondata unit..

Neptune is just as good as Hondata. U just need a chipped ECU. Tuning is 300ish for the 1st tune. thats 100 for an hour of dyno time and 200 for the tuner. any re-tunes later on should be 50-100 bucks a pop.

If you dont build the LSV the right way and have it tuned, it wont last too long. Theres plenty of people who slap on a head and think theyre good to go. Take your time, do it right, tune it right and its should be reliable as any stock honda engine.
