The Helms manual does a pretty good job in my opinion, I would look there first.

Yea look in the Helm's. There is one tricky snap ring that hold's the mainshaft bearing to the case I believe. It's a bitch. The rest of the job just involves finding the right preload and finding the right shim for it.

just out of curiousity, is there a trick to getting the freaking alighnment ring on right... everytime i try to put the case on the transmision. everything is great. then when the case is on.. its binds up.

its pretty easy to install... Spoonertuner.com has manuals for free just down load it and do it. Its pretty easy and if you have the correct tool for the spring clip its a cake walk.

I heard that! haha. I'd do an entire bearing kit. When I did mine one of the bearings froze up and destroyed the entire tranny on the dyno.
Second time around I went with some Syncrotech syncs and a new bearing kit!

It is probably hanging up on that bearing with the snap ring, or else one of the shift fork rods. So just make sure the snap ring is spread and you can wiggle the shift fork rods with a screwdriver or something from the top to get them to slide into place. Don't force it; the housing should sit down flush without much effort.

there are three very nice videos on youtube by Evans Tuning. Search youtube for "Evans Tuning Differential Swap". It's an example of a b-series transmission but I would imagine it to be very similar. I just swapped out my b-series last night and it was pretty simple thanks to there videos. Can't hurt to watch them at least.
