98 JDM ITR swap into a 93 CX..
A chipped P28 will work excellent. Fuel consumption will go way up. If you can use 98 spec type r , would be good. Where is your location? J spec harness will not work , right hand drive......
Here are a few things to remember.
Things that you have to watch out for..
1. Wiring harness (some say it can be used...but it might be a little tough as it's for RHD)
2. VTEC Solenoid. JDM ITR/GSR and maybe B16's don't have a VTEC pressure switch. Therefore, any USDM ECU that you use on that motor will throw a code. Not sure what the effects are (like, loss of vtec or running in safe mode..or just having an annoying cel). To fix this, you need a USDM vtec solenoid. Or run that JDM ITR ecu.
3. Axles. The JDM ITR axles are 36mm rather than the "normal" 32mm. Either get USDM B series axles or go 5 lug from a 98+ spec ITR.
4. ECU. It's OBD II, you are OBD I...gotta get a conversion harness.

Ok I'm gunna get a 95 GSR wiring harness, VTEC solenoid, and axles. Then I'm gunna get my P28 chipped.. do I still need a obd2->1 conversion harness?

No you won't need a conversion harness if you get your P28 rechipped. Also you will have a few issues with the 95 GSR harness because the 98 motor, injectors and distributor are all 98 (Technically OBD II plug wise).
Stick with the original harness that came with the car. I did and I have had no problems (That wern't man made anyway). You'll be fine.

If you can, try and find a 97+ USDM ITR harness.
If you use an OBD 1 harness, such as your CX or an Si harness, you're gonna have to rewire your distributor and your injectors. An ITR harness will bolt right on. Easiest thing to do.

If you use a GSR harness, you'll have an extra wire hanging around. Not a big deal I guess.
A 92-95 Si harness is the same as an Ex harness. You can use that, but you have to extend a wire or two.
The 99-00 Si harness would not be an option.

ok let me run through everything one more time....
I need the following: 97+ GSR wiring harness, VTEC solenoid, B-Series axles, and I'm gunna have my P28 rechipped.
Sound good?

Just rework ur stock harness with new wires for VTEC, VTM, and KS. The JDM harness will not work because of the RHD setup which changes the battery and ECU locations.
