inever took one apart or know whats inside one.

i have a general idea of what it does.

is there any way to tell if its broken or damaged in any way by visually inspecting it when its out of the tranny?
turning shaking wiggling etc?

what kind of lsd do you have?
theres really no telling without taking the lsd a part and checking the gears inside.

 

ok i picked it up and took it apart but not sure what to look for

i cleaned the gears and looked at the surface wear and its not much just barely worn. no cracks or chips on gears either.

is there a topic here about it that i cant seem to find i know im not the first one to ask about this?

im trying to identify it

the stamp says 01j and around the diff it says 01b4
ive beens earching googles and here but nothing comes up with those numbers

it might be 01j o1b4 instead of 01b4.

Does it say Quaife anywhere? Sounds like it's a QDF1U. If you've had it open and nothing is broken inside, it's ready to rock.

are the gears directional?( theres markings on one side of the gears, the stamped lines)

 

Nope, not a Quaife...

 

OEM ITR LSD, missing speedo ring gear, likely swapped out for Quaife or MFactory.

SC, I assume you work with "Mac" ?

i didnt see the markings untill i had one in my hand and looked closer
