lookin to buy new distributor for my b16a2. where/what to buy?
i went to honda and they dont sell the whole assembly. id have to peice it together costing around 600 ish. is there anyway to get ahold of new oem distributors as the whole unit
Well lately my cars been feelin alil sluggish. Ive narrowed it down to the dizzy since its givin me a problem before and i was lookin at the spark and the spark was alil weak ( yellow spark). Plus i think the bearings are bad since the dizzy started leakin alil oil around the seal and the dizzy is relatively noisy. Its a td-87u which is also discontinued.
Is there oil inside the distributor or just on the outside?
Is there a red dust inside the distributor?
How do you know the distributor is noisy versus something else in the engine bay?
Weak spark is generally caused by a bad coil, though occasionally it can be caused by a bad ICM. Have you resistance tested the coil? Has an auto parts store tested the ICM?

Yes there is red dust inside the old cap i replaced a few weeks ago...the loud bearing noise sounds like its coming from the dizzy. I have not tested the resistance recently but a few months back i did and it was within spec but that was before the car started feelin sluggish. Plus it seems im runnin alil more rich hence the weak spark. What tests should i do to narrow down what is wearing out? Even though i heard the red dust means bad news

The red dust indicates a bad distributor bearing, so you must at least replace the distributor housing. That's $276 at Majestic Honda. In the meantime, test the coil (see diagram in FAQs sticky) and have an auto parts store test the ICM. If they both test fine, just order the distributor housing and then go from there.
You could also just buy a b16 dizzy off honda-tech. They normally work fine, both my friends dizzy were bought off honda-tech and their cars run no problem.
ok i just did a resistance test on the coil between terminals a and b and got a reading of 0.9 -1.0 on a fluke multi meter and a reading of .6 -.9 on a innova multi meter. im going with the readings on the fluke which means the coil isnt in too good of shape correct?
Internal resistance = Ohm reading when you touch the two meter probes together.
