I took it in to get diagnostics and they said my PCV valve was bad and my alternator was going out. I replaced the alternator and replaced the PCV valve but Im still having the same issues! The car idles very low (around 300-500 RPM) and sounds very rough. And when I give it gas it kind of sputters a little.

Any ideas as to hwhat my issue or issues could be?

 

Do a full tuneup.

 

I have pretty much done everything a tune up consists of. This is what I've done.

Replaced alternator
Spark plug wires
Spark plugs
PCV valve

 

What could be some possible reasons why the car is acting this way?

 

Did you check what voltage your alternator puts out now? How is your battery? Any other issues or CEL's?

 

The old alternator was putting out 3 amps. And when I activated any kind of power the RPMs would drop even lower and the car would almost die! But I replaced that alternator with another one that works fine. But no, I havent checked the voltage of the new alternator. I just had my battery chcecked and thats fine too.

 

take the distributor cap off and make sure there arent any carbon deposits (brown dust), make sure the points arent corroded on the cap, check the rotor and while you got it open look at the wiring and make sure nothing is burnt, loose or cut if thats all good then get a manual and a multimeter and test the coil and icm. Hope this helps

 

Also replace your fuel filter, just for fun.

 

fuel filter , check or replace dizzzy cap and rotor(clean the 4 terminals with a clean wire brush), clean/test or replace IACV, clean TB. make sure the plugs are gaped to spec.

i would check the ignition timing first.

CEL codes?

 

The check engine light isnt on. Autozone does not have an OBD1 scanner and schucks does have an OBD1 scanner but doesnt have the adapter for Hondas.

 

Click the CEL sticky at the top. You can pull the codes with a short piece of wire or a paperclip.
