Default 98 civic fuel pump going bad?

I have a 98 civic ex with a b18b1 swap and I think something may be wrong with the fuel system. I'm thinking the fuel pump might be going out. Ill post some videos of it in a little bit.

Could be the relay.

The driving was in 5th gear going 1/2 way down on the gas. Fuel pressure gauge is reading 38lbs.

Just when I'm driving and give it gas. It drives fine when I drive it slow.

Is the CEL on? What codes?

The tach is jumping around. Have you tested the ICM?

What are the fuel pressures when the engine is idling with versus without the FPR vacuum hose connected?

Yeah the cel is throwing a code for the intake temp sensor because I don't have one and for something else but I can't remember what it is. That was when I checked it before this started happening though so ill run the codes again tomorrow and see what pops up.

My dizzy is remanufactured off ebay but ill also check the icm tomorrow as well as the fuel pressure.

A couple of my friends were saying their cars ran like crap without the iat sensor when it got colder out, and it was nicer today and my car ran a lot better. So I think that may be what the problem is. I'm picking one up at a junkyard on Monday.

Well I got my intake air temp sensor all hooked up and my car is still doing it.

So tonight I was bored so I finally got around to resetting my SRS light that had been on forever. And I decided to do the paperclip trick to check my CEL's to see if the intake air temp sensor code had gone away, but when I turned the ignition on this happened...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoiQch_TXNs

It started grinding right away and when I turned off the ignition it slowed down and stopped. It's coming from down by where my ecu and main relay and all that good stuff is. It sounds like something is spinning, because when I turn it off I can hear it slow down and stop.

And now that I think about it, there has been a wierd noise coming from over in that area lately. Didn't really think about it until this happened though.

Could it be my main relay? Anyone able to help me?

Just went out and looked at it a little more.

I'm almost positive it's the main relay. It will make the grinding noise for about 25 seconds, then it will hum and click like normal.

Although, there was a few times when it didn't do the grinding noise, but it clicked abnormally loud.

And just a correction to the first video, its only when I turn the ignition, not fully crank the car. But I can still turn the car on while its making the noise and it will just shut off.

Here's a better video of it. The click right after the noise stops is coming from whatever is making the noise, then I take out the keys after that.

You sure the noise isn't the blower motor behind the glove box?

I'm not exactly sure. It stopped doing it now.

How are you supposed to test the ICM? I can't find any solid information on it.

Turns out the noise actually was the relay.. my car is currently dead at my work until I can source a new relay from the junkyard.

Well I picked up a used relay from a junkyard yesterday and I swapped it out and my car fired right up. When I took the old relay apart there was spots on the plastic where it looked burnt, and a lot of the solder joints were really melted over. Ill post up some pictures tonight when I get the chance.
