why does car pop out of 5th
Well I had a not so great shop install my CC stage 4 clutch. They reused my flywheel. Anyways the car has had bad chatter from the clutch, more than it should from what I'm told. CC said it sounds like the shop didn't resurface the flywheel correctly. The chatter has gotten alittle better since beating on the clutch a lot (per CC's suggestion). My question is could the clutch being installed wrong cause my car to make 5th pop out of gear? Also sometimes it will go into 5th like normal but sometimes its a pain in the ***. On a bad day it will pop out of 5th maybe 3 or 4 times a mile.
mine would occasionally pop out of 5th as well, turns out i was a shade bit low on tranny fluid, i would check that. also the reason why i was low is because one of the cv seals went bad.
Turbo build. The car has 95k miles, never been modded before me, I don't slam 5th gear racing, the problem showed up after the clutch swap along with a leaking Fb boot. I don't see it being a bad syncro.
it most likely just low on fluid.. same thing happen to me, I did a swap once and cruising in 5th always varied how long it took. not long at all but would just slide its self out of gear.
How to check- if you can get under the vehicle would be most efficiant. looking at the the transmission facing the front of the car, right next to the cv axel "were the spline enters the transmission you'll see a 17 mm bolt with a washer.
Crack loose and fill it untill it starts to overflow. "perfect" install the bolt and let her rip.
Now if you wanted to exchange the fluid.. 2.2 qts of Motor Oil. Now right next to the bolt I was refering to.. youll see a fitting for a 3/8 in Ratcher to fit into.. thats your drain.
goodluck. Im 99.9999% positive your just low on fluid

OP: What's wrong with reusing the flywheel? You just have to resurface it any time that you install a new clutch.
Thanks guys! I'm selling the car and this makes me feel alot better!
CC said they probably didn't resurface it right, that was causing all the chattering. That they probably just took a wire brush to it to save them time and money.

Is it a pucked clutch? My Exedy stage 2, which is a 3-puck, chattered pretty bad when I'd let it out slowly. It liked to be dropped quick.
