What do you want to change it to? You will need the final drive ring gear as well as the countershaft from a tranny that has the same ratio final drive that you want.

Are hydro and cable parts interchangeable, such as gears, etc.?

Let me get this straight, you just want to change the final drive - mated to a B18A? If not, then you might want to look into mating a 88-91 B16A tranny to a B18A with the LS 5th gear.
