Icon3 Failed BAR/Ref! Need HELP!

Just took my car to try to get it ref'd and failed.... Visual and smog passed but the tech said I was missing the DLC (Data Link Connector). I thought that's what the jumper plug was for??? Where can I find the DLC or how do I hook it up?

Have a 90 ef hatch with a 94 b18c1 with stock p72 ecu. Everything is pretty much stock. Got rywire harness if that matters?

The rywire conversion harness left a brown/white wire hanging to check codes just by grounding it. So I cut my stock blue 2 pin jumper connector that was already on the car stock. So I took the blue 2 pin jumper connector and connected 1 wire to the ground and the other wire connected to the brown/white wire from the rywire conversion harness.

Question: Was I not supposed to cut the stock 2 pin jumper connector? Was that datalink connector? lol

Somebody help me out

I think you should get a better explaination from the tech.

Nothing wrong with using your stock 2 pin connector.
That isn't the DLC though.

Maybe tech was thinking the newer DLC like OBDII has.

That's what I thought?! But I clearly had the jumper cable out and the tech seen it as well. But he said he couldn't find the DLC connector to hook up to his computer. So at this point, I'm lost and seeking help lol

Thanks for the reply 4drEF

I believe the DLC is a three pin connector. You have to add it in. On obd1 cars, they're right next to the 2 pin (service check connector). I'll see if I can find the pinout for it.

You have to add it in. If you can, go to a junk yard, find a obd1 civic or integra (make sure its blue like sir said) then cut that plug off. I know there's a white/green wire that goes to pin d22. And I can't remember the other two cause I'm not at home, or else I would send you a diagram. Hope that helps.

Yes please! I appreciate all the help y'all.

CRX_sir, would you happen to have that blue connector? If you do, text me if you still got my number. I'm the one with the blue avalanche. You did 2 power window harness for me and helped me wired up my JDM cluster

Ok took a quick look at the connector:

Left wire: sensor ground, black/red goes to ecu a26
Middle wire: , white/red
Right wire: light blue, ecu d7

I'll have to look at the diagram n see where your supposed to hook up the white/red wire.

D1 is voltage back up. You sure it goes there? I haven't had time to look at the diagram.

To the op: how much is the ref now? I was told by a buddy of mine that it's around the 200 something range now? Is that true? Or is it still the 35 (I think) for 2 tries and 7 for the certificate? I'm in Sacramento as well. Thanks

Ok finally figured out where that middle (white/red) wire connects to. According to the service manual, it's hooked up to the fuse box on slot #3(integra) which is for; integrated control unit, dome light, power antenna motor, and DLC.

Pretty much, that wires just needs to be connected to a source that has constant power. Since I have a power distribution block behind my center console I just hooked mine up to that.... But if you guys wanna hook it to your dome light, it's going to be a white/blue wire (90 civic).

This was the results:

Thanks to crx_si-r for the info and help
