shorten the ITR shifter..
I was thinking of making my ITR shifter a little bit lower by cutting it and re-threading it. Only about an inch though.
I don't want my shift throw longer or shorter really, I just want the shifter a little bit lower because of the Si **** I'm using...
But if it makes the throw longer, then **** that.
What do you people think?

wouldn't it be hard to re-thread b/c the shifter tapers wider as it gets lower. you won't be able to fit the **** back on. how about cutting and inch off somewhere in the middle.. and have a shop reweld it together?? will that work?
for me, i got a C's short throw and it sits pretty high.. i actually like it that way. having it higher makes it easier for road racing...

I will.
EDIT: I just want to know if it will screw up the throws..
that's all

yah the taper does get a little bit bigger..
I go to a tech college and they have a HUGE shop with machines, I think I can find someone in there to make it look professional.

I wouldn't recommend cutting and welding. If you have a good welder, it might be cheap, but I've had 2 friends break their 'shortened' shifters. Not worth it IMHO... Buy a nice strong shifter, and don't be afraid to bang your gears!
Yes, a shorter **** is always a good choice..

RAZO shift ***** comes with 3 different height settings. I have mine at the lowest which is about 1/2 to 1 inch shorter than stock (I didn't measure, that's my guesstimate).
The throw will be shorter. And it wouldn't be hard to do at all, no welding required.
Use a good saw that can cut metal straight and cut it down to the desired length. Use a lathe to get rid of the taper on the last inch or so of the shifter. Then thread using the appropriate thread size.
BTW, if you doubt that it will make your throws shorter, the magnitude of a given arc of a circle will be smaller the smaller the radius is. In other words, the shifter still pivots around the same point, imagine the shifter tracing an arc when you shift. If you make that radius shorter(the shifter), then the arc is shorter. Thus a shorter throw. Likewise, if you add a foot to the shifter, you better believe it will move farther at the tip than it does now.

the actual throw won't be affected b/c what changes the throw is the length of the shifter under the pivot ball point. that's what shortens your throw. the longer it is under the ball, the shorter the throw. everything above that pivot point is all preference in height.
Not true. If the distance between the pivot ball and your hand is shorter, so will be the throw. It works both ways. Leverage is decreased though, so shifts take a bit more effort.

get a taller shifter- nobody likes the gangsta lean B.S. I have my shifter setup right next to my steering wheel (rasied about 5") Custom made by yours truely- same throw as stock.
