What to look for in buying a welder?
I'm looking to buy a good, reliable used MIG welder to do some sheet metal work/rust repair, fabrication, etc. I'm looking to spend right around $200 and I would really like a decent brand like a Miller or a Lincoln.
I would like to know if or what usually goes bad with welders or what brands offer decent welders for my price range. I already have a welding mask, gloves, and other necessary accessories, so the money will be going solely to the welder itself.
I've been welding off and on for sometime now, I've even had a few welding certificates at some point in time from my college, and I would like to say I'm some what familiar with welding, but I would really like to get something of my own.

check your local craigslist, you might run across a deal. me, i just have a cheap harbor freight 90amp flux core, and i run lincoln wire and lincoln tips. works fine for sheet metal work, and exhaust. i only went with that because of the price, and that i do all my work outside so flux core is the way to go with that, no risk of your shielding gas blowing away in the wind.
Yeah, I knew off the bat I wasn't going to be able to find anything real nice.
Maybe something like this and I could possibly talk him down a bit?
