Default Whats a good clutch for basically stock LS?

friend has a 98 ls and his clutch with 148k is beginning to slip. he has intake and exhaust and dont plan to do anything else to it performance wise.

He wants a stiffer clutch pedal. What determines how stiff a clutch pedal is? Pressure plate right? All he needs is an OEM replacement clutch but more stiffer pedal..no stage 1 2 3 clutches..what clutch would be perfect for his application?

Exedy OEM replacement is good, but same pedal pressure. Stage 1 is what you describe with a slightly more firm pedal. I have used it for years and there are many recommendations on HT for it on essentially nonmodded cars, as well as OEM replacement. You state no stage 1, but that is the description, more pressure.

one of these. simple, cheap and reliable

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EXEDY...ht_3125wt_1165

if he wants a stiffer pedal that's a stronger pressure plate and you spend over 2x as much on the stage 1

Exedy stage 1. You gotta pay for stiff clutches, but why would anyone want a stiff clutch anyways...

That's why it's called OEM replacement. Stiff clutches are annoying especically for daily use only.

I have to say, I'm not a fan of stiff clutches, but the Exedy OEM is disconcertingly soft. I've heard that Stg 1 has close-to-stock pedal feel and that's what I'll be getting next time I need a new clutch.

stock clutches can be too soft and offer no pedal feel..my friend put in a cheap oem replacement in his civic and his gas pedal is stiffer..no joke. stiffer clutch feels sportier he said. exedy stage 1 is really stiff..ive driven two.

I find Stage 1 Exedy a little more firm than OEM, not stiff. Guess you need to feel one to decide. I actually prefer Exedy Stage 1 pedal feel over OEM and would chose that feel if the clutch was otherwise the same.

+1 for Exedy. Usually you can find a cheap lightened flywheel combo as well on Ebay.

ACT or CM PP with any full face disc. That would be stiffer. I think.
