Default mods and tune

Ordered up some stuff for my 92 eg. Engine is D16z6

comp cam stage 1
AEM cam gear
Hondata S300
Also doing the timing belt combo at the same time

my existing mods are:

edelbrock intake manifold
AEM short ram intake
Performance plugs and wires
hedman header with full exhaust (Believe its 2.25")
skunk2 throtle body

I believe thats everyting mechanical.

Im getting it tuned as well with 91 octane. What kinda hp and whp do you think i could get out of this set up?

Why would you run 91 octane on your SOHC? I remember when I ran a Bisi Level 2 VTEC cam on my F22B1, I was still on 87 octane. Those are just anti-knocks. Just curious?

87 oct will knock before 92 oct.

Why not? You should be able to run more timing, to counter the slower burn rate of the fuel.

well got it all installed and tuned. I getting 129 whp and about 160 at the engine and about 110 torque. Thats with a plugged up cat and restricted muffler. I plan on getting a test pipe and whole new exhaust with a bisi header. Should make more with that.

It went pretty well tho i will post video on the dyno soon

Cam- 300$
Gear- 100$
Im- 250$
"Performance" plugs and wires- 100$
Header- 100$
TB- 120$
ECU/Tune- 300$

Total- 1270$

That's a rough estimate and a super cheap tune.

You could've had a stock b20 in your car and had money to play with.

To each his own I guess

Dude my hondata was $500 alone. Exhaust, with header all the way back...$600. Theres $1100 lol. And ya to each his own, i like my SOHC, not really into DOHC. Im making the power of a b16 with more torque hehe

Its alot of fun, next in the spring im dropping a turbo in it. Running low boost to start. Also i dont have the cash just to swap in a motor, i have to do it in pieces.

I love my d16z6 sohc vtec haha :D

But yes, to each his own. What do you have in yours?

You don't have to cash to swap a motor in, yet you wasted all your money and will continue to on your little baby single cam..

those are good numbers for a single cam with boltons, I would of spent my money on a dohc, or just bolted a turbo kit on the sohc with that s300.
