Default V2V issue

long story short

B series S2P3s cams

When i first set the CLs IN 100 EX 104 the V2V was 0

so i started making the V2V chart and found that in order get to the .040 V2V i wanted. There needed to be a 11 degree spread on the gears.. IMO quite excessive.

i checked the V2V with the lash at 0.... i can run it .010 tighter but that still will not even get the CLs close

this is with the cams at there proper CLs gears were +3 EX +1 IN

after a while i found that this spread will give me the .040 i wanted.....keep in mind....i checked every possible combinatinn as long as it was around an 10-11 degree spread the V2V was where i wanted it......
With this problem the closest i could get the IN cam to CL was - 2 and EX cam at +9... with that combo it gave me a IN CL of 113 and EX CL of 103.5.... WHAT is going on

That's weird..... I would measure out to .030" at 0 lash since when you add the lash into the equation, you're back up to roughly .040" clearance anyway. Are these brand new cams or older used cams?

Also, did you use a dial indicator and degree wheel to verify the centerlines? If so, were the opening and closing events correct per the Skunk2 Cam Card?

I've found that Pro-series cams are one of the hardest to find the true centerlines and IMHO it takes much less time to set them using opening/closing events.

If you are not using a degree wheel/dial indicator, finish your V2V chart so you know where not to set them, and go to the dyno and find the best combination. It is what it is.

I spoke to him over the phone last night, recommend that he get other opinions from guys like you who have possibly seen problem, he'll be calling DonF today for some insight as well.

I was thinking he was sent oversized valves, or possible somethign wrong witht he camshafts themselves or something he isn't aware of. Very strange indeed.

Are you going by one degree on them cam gears as one degree ? I've never seen a degree be a whole tooth on a timing belt . Ive also never used golden eagle timing gears but a whole tooth that's a lot more then a degree.

It doesn't equal 1 tooth, GE gears use a vernier scale type adjustment like Toda cam gears do except the GE looks easier to read because the marks are so large.
