My First Car --EJ6--
Just bought my first car, super stoked its a civic. Ive been wanting one since about 6th grade while everyone enjoyed talking crap about them and wanting the r34 from 2F2F...all of which now own civics lol. Super Super clean Roma Red 97 EJ6 coupe with only 88,500 miles for $2800, no a/c (at all) or power steering only after market thing on this car is the Radio. Just need new clear coat over hood because it has what i guess they call "crows feet"? Anyway Just want some Feedback on the car and what would be the best most cost effective mods. Has d16Y7 right now and cant decide whether to swap head for vtec or just go with a B16. Motor wont be for another 4 months or so untill i finish paying guy off for car. Right now im focused on body (no ricer lol) 00' front end, paint my headlights gun metal, Detach wheel, Short shifter etc.. Any Feedback will be good, Thank you
Edit: Anyone know how much EL front ends run when they are "cheap" and where a good place to find one is?

^^Zip tied stock Plate bracket to the side where there was a piece of plastic and holes. then zip tied plate. its pretty solid :D

an EL front is going to be around 800-1000 dollars im looking to do the conversion myself on the sedan with the rear trunk lid and the best place to look for it is canada to tell the brutal truth ive only seen on EL in Denver and idk if it was a conversion but a older guy drives it it has the regular civic back but it has the 1.6EL front on it

Wouldnt we all lol My original plan was a h22 swap, but started reading and saw theres some cutting involved for the shifter and the clearance for the oil pan sucks and will end up cracking. So after i get everything situated ill prob. go the gsr route, type r cams :D
Its a great start to a nice build. My 97 hatch has a 99-00 front end that was half assed and i'm paying for it. Just ordered a new core support this morning and OEM panels are going to burn a hole through my wallet. Just keep an eye on the marketplace for good deals and don't rush it. The front end of your car may look like play-doh, but at least the body lines will look good. Don't skimp out on body panels on the swap.
Its OEM-EJ6, just found out i still had this account and could log on through my Facebook lol Im a "Trial Member" so couldnt reply to this thread.
Thanks for the feedback, its appreciated, yea i got lucky finding this car. went to a mechanic my friend bought his eg hatch from to buy another eg he had (was auto though :/ and wasnt catching a spark) when i saw the civic. 5spd super clean, suprised he let it go so cheap.
@Bori Bori: why shouldnt I? Yea seems a little ricey but will do for now instead of paying $150 lol
@hyperblu: How necessary is the core support? Was just planning on bolting on Fenders,Bumper etc..
and so should i or should i not remove the weather stripping?
