I have a 99 Civic CX with an aftermarket Radio and Alarm w/ keyless entry. Last night I pulled the radio out to install an auxilary cord when all of a sudden the radio shut off and my dome light stopped coming on. For some reason, my radio screen does not show any appearance of working, but it can still eject cds. Btw, I have keyless entry and that is still working. any help is appreciated. Oh and, what penalties will I face if I get caught with an illegal intake in CA?

 

You have a short somewhere. Hope the harness isn't hacked. Did you check all underhood and underdash related fuses? Hope you didn't fry your H/U.

Illegal intake? You'll have to get one that does.

As I understand it if it's illegal and you get caught with one they'll give you a REF ticket and you'll have to either put on the stock intake or get one with a CARB sticker. That's what I mean. You should check your local laws if you live in California.

 

So it's not a fix-it ticket?

 

Radio and dome light going out would be an accessory fuse.

 

What's the difference? You still have to fix it.

 

get a cheap *** AEM carb approved intake...

 

AEM intakes aren't even cheap

 

You don't have to pay for a fix-it ticket if you fix it. You have to pay for a state ref ticket.

 

Then stock it is.

You put the stock one back in, go get it signed off by a CHP officer

the marketplace has cheap aems that are carb approved every once in a while. saw one not too long ago for $25
