Default Skunk2 Alpha B-series Header

Just saw this pop up on their site:
http://cms.skunk2.com/id/751/B-Serie...Series-Header/

Starting at <$350. From the dyno results we've seen from DonF and others using the MegaPower Header these results seem to be on-par with expectations.

After talking with Skunk2, there are no physical differences between the MegaPower and the new Alpha header. The manufacturing techniques have changed, instead of manually TIG welding with full argon backpurge, they've found new welding processes that eliminate the cost of argon while removing oxygen from the weld area. So less time and less consumables/materials to produce the same product with equivalent weld quality.

In short, any MegaPower dyno results will be the same as Alpha Series results.

I remember the test where the megapower did beat the narrow rep, and hytech rep. If these are the same and then I would have definitely bought one if I still had an all motor car.

MikeySpec where are you for testing..? lol

A couple of those headers look like copies... The SMSP doesn't have any steps in it's primaries and no SMSP cut into the flange... and top end is one thing but you don't usually see anything beat an SMSP in the low end/midrange.... That Toda doesn't look right either.. Is this a test against all the popular copies out there?

Lol beat me to the punch.

At that price point tho I worry where quality is sacrificed and how that will effect the durability of the header. Unless they just designed it and had it built in china like all the other headers, pretty much beating them to the punch lol looks promising tho.

It's a smart thing to do. Create a header at a budget price that competes with other budget priced headers and mass market them. Now people can feel good not buying a copy that will perform, fit well and have customer service and warranty behind it. It directly challenges all the cheap knock offs that have been eroding their market share.

Sure it beats every other header in THEIR testing, just like Bisi...

I'll wait until 3rd party testing is done before I believe any claims from any company...

(ahem, Mikey are you reading this? LOL)

I wonder how the Alpha header's ground clearance is on an EF chassis.

Well I for one will be ordering one. Also thinking about ordering a smsp header if everything goes well on Saturday. Then I will have a header shoot out. Custom Bisi, Custom Smsp, and this new skunk header.

I am with 00Red, Those do look alot like replicas. The bisi header doesn't come with bolts to hold it together but the replica does. The rmf narrow looks like the replica.

They(S2) clearly states that these are replica's that were tested.

What skunk2 is trying to do in essence is exactly what 00redsir says! With this header, at this price, with their company name, they are grabbing the b series knockoff header market by the ***** and running! Someone at skunk2 hit a gold mine!

The only thing is, the Toda (replica) takes a whoopin in the midrange which I wouldn't expect the real Toda to do but as far as replicas go, the Skunk looks like an excellent product that's priced right and ready to kick a$$ especially if third party testing pans out.

I'm amazed nobody is done this sooner. When SK2 had their sale I saw they were starting the Alpha line and I had my fingers crossed big time that they'd give the Megapower the Alpha treatment. If the materials and build are on par with many of the replicas on the market, I'll definitely consider getting an Alpha.

Replica hytechs are known to perform pretty well.

Julio, Show us a dyno comparison of your bisi headers where you clearly state what header you are testing against. At least they are up front about what they are testing against. And before anyone says I am a hater or something I have a "custom" bisi header on my car right now that I spent over $1000 for.
