h22 loosing spark @ high rpm
ive got a boosted h22, it recently has been misfiring/cutting out @ high rpm. i put a spark tester on it and even in nuetral when it starts missing u can see the spark go from bright to dim, ive changed the ignitor with 3 good ones, still the same? i put a volt gauge on the battery to see if voltage was droping when it misses and its a steady 14v, ive also change the coils i had a cranes cam coil i swaped with 2 diffrent msd coils still the same, does anyone have any clues?
How are the wires themselves. There's nothing wrong with an aftermarket ignition, but even the cap, wires, and PLUGS need to be checked as well. what plugs are you using and how are they gapped?
its a brand new cap/rotor new msd wires and i swaped with some new ngk's new bkr7e plugs but it cant be plugs because ive got a spark tester ont he plug wire and its loosing spark at high rpm
Even new cap and rotor can be problematic. Make sure they're quality pieces from the dealership or at least get the highest quality from the parts store. It's probably the plug gap though... Gap the plugs to .030"
the plugs are gaped @ .030 but like i said im loosing spark before the plugs, i tried the oe coil this morning same thing, the cap and rotor are oem brand new and the old cap was oem also and it was still good i just had bought a new one to see if there was a plroblem there.

I had the same problem at one time and I bought a new distributor from Honda and it fixed the problem. If you go this route, only buy Honda, don't buy Distributor King, they aren't built the same.
yea, anything like this only buy OEM, it's more expensive sometimes, but it's alot more worth it in the long run. You will most likely need to get a new dizzy, if you have a frind that has one, try theirs first and see if it solves the issue, if so, buy one from Honda or a used one that you know works that's an OEM Honda one.
Junk? Disagree...
The digital series are Legit, enough for 8 second passes...
Also, My 7-AL2 has worked JUST fine in my setup for 4 years...
ALthough I do agree, I made 620 on a BONE STOCK OFF THE CRATE JDM H22 dizzy no new cap rotor or ****. Straight off the ceate motor

I hopped on the MSD wagon when they first came out with their 'import' line (10+ years ago?). I melted two of their caps, had issues with the wires, and witnessed 3 or 4 '6AL' boxes being thrown in the trash - and that's why I sold my box.
The wires in particular are very delicate. If you're checking plugs all the time it's very hard on MSD wires. The fitment is also nowhere near as nice as OEM.
As far as the 7-AL2 goes. Yeah, sounds like a good product.. probably not as reliable as OEM but you have a very good reason to upgrade your ignition. Most people don't need to gamble with aftermarket ignition hardware.
