My Acura is making about 300whp and gona be making 400whp next summer.

Im running TEIN SS coil overs
ETD traction bars
Energy suspension bushings
Skunk2 Upper control arms.
Every brace possible lol.
Quief LSD

Tires im running Falken RT-615 215/40R17

I nuck 1st ,2nd and 3rd.

I need new tires next ummer.

I was looking at stepping up to 225's on a 7.5 wheel or possibly 235's

I was looking around and can not find what i want to know.

Anyone sugest some wheel offsets and tire size and tires ?

I want a 17" and i run the car about 1/4" over the top of the tire for height.

Most if not all of the people who have fast cars on here will tell you to go to a smaller rim. With a 17 inch rim you dont have much side wall. In my opinion, choose either form or function. If you want traction drop down to a 15 inch wheel and run a Mickey Tompson drag radial. As for size I am not sure what will actually fit on those cars because i am not familiar with them

 

I was looking at old post from 2008 and same statements were go to a 15" but there is not many wide tires in the 15" series. I know that a 15" will grab better due to the sidewall.

This chassis is the same as a EK jut has a different front on it.

1.) RT-615s are not good for straight line traction.
2.) Stiff sidewall tires are not good for straight line traction.
3.) Low profile tires are not good for straight line traction.
So youre 0 for 3.

Alot of people are having good traction with the Nitto Neo Gens but I dont know if they can be that good. I run drag radials full time and they arent even enough.

Look into boost by gear.

I was looking at doing 15's but all there is out there is 205/50R15.

I have my avc-r setup for 8psi in first 10 in second and 12 in third and 14psi in fourth and i just spin 1-mid 3rd now. I did have some ra-1s on the car at one point seeemed to grab a bit better.

I was looking at wider rims and tires but wider is not always better as the weight of the car vs contact patch.

I would run drag radials but i would eat those up daily driving.

 

15s will def give more room for sidewall. The RA1 and R888s both have 225/15 sizes available and they are a step up but still have stiff sidewalls.

You should get a smaller wg spring and run less boost in gears 1-3.

 

235 60 a5 Mand H Racemaster. You wanna hook? Play the game....

 

I dead hook with a 225 50 15 Toyo RA1... The 17" wheel is not going to give you enough sidewall expansion for a FWD setup.

That LSD you have is fine... im running a Stock Type R LSD in my transmission (over 3 years now)

Also if I recall the Tein SS coilover is like a 7kg rear damper (dont quote me on that) you may want to consider a stiffer rear spring rate to help a bit more... Im running 10kg omni streets in the rear

225-50-15 MT's here and I dead hook 2nd gear with 3xxhp. For anything under 550 I would use them. The M&H's are really good as well but Don't offer a tire shorter than 25".

 

Im hooking just fine with 400+whp in a dc2 with 205/50/15 performance all season Falken ZE-912's BOOST BY GEAR is your best friend

 

stop worring about finding better ways to get traction anything after 300whp in a honda means do your self a favor and boost by gear and a set of good tires. best decision i ever made! at 100mph if you still dont have traction you have to controll your power by othermeans.

 

I run the MT 3751R full time too. They are very good. What tire pressure do you drive around on?

F M&H and their ridiculous tire sizes! How about a 225 or 235 with a reasonable sidewall?

 

Thanks for the pics. I think this is what im gonna do next summer some 225/50R15 MT and slap a smaller WG spring in and hook up the hondata boost controler.

I drive around on them with 36 psi in them. I will try a set of M&H's once these are done but I am not looking forward to using that tall of a tire. I am really impressed with the MT's!

Yes I do but I can go pretty close to the lock with the 38 offset wheels. I need back spacers bad but I haven't been too worried about it. I am hunting down parts to get a re-tune. Should be done by the end of the month!

 

How about the 235/60 WORKS, and HOOKS >500WHP. Its a 25.4. Deal with it. They work better than MT period.

 

just bite the bullet and get some 22x8x15 slicks and be done with it. and hook like a ****

JK you can get a 225-50-15 ET street to keep a somewhat stock look or I would go with a 235-60-15 M&H Street/Strip if you wanna hook all the power without having to handicap your first 3 gears using boost by gear. I think for what your power goal is, you will be fine with the 225-50-15 ET street radial.

 

i run nitto 555r they hook good on my car at 300hp. I get a 1.8 60ft at the track with them. Also they last 10X longer then other drag radials.
