Just got '98 ITR detailed for first time
Hi Folks,
I've wanted to get my ITR buffed and cleaned inside and out for years, but have been trying to find someone to trust who wouldn't burn through the clearcoat or do any other damage.
I finally realized a local guy does detailing who I trust due to several other things he's done for us (Roger at Ayer auto trim in ayer, ma). Older guy, very reasonable, and most importantly I trust him with my ITR.
Anyway he and another guy did inside and out today.
All I can say is WOW. The interior basically looks new now. There's not a speck of dust anywhere. All the dirt and grime that builds up in the cracks and crevices is GONE. Whatever dressing he uses is great - not TOO shiny but obviously all plastic bits have been treated. Carpets look new. It's pretty phenomenal.
Exterior the washing/buffing/waxing is phenominal. The paint looks absolutely amazing. He even touched up tons of small dots where the paint got pits over the 13 years and 153K miles of use. He asked for $225, and I just couldn't give him that little for such awesome work. I told him it wasn't enough and then gave him $275 - I probably should have given him $300 - maybe I'll drop by and give him a bit more. He was clearly very thankful, and he knew it was good work and seemed to be very happy that I appreciated it.
It's like a new car. And the difference was pretty obvious because even though it looked great, I'd never had a buffing done before.
WOOHOO!!!!
I'm so glad I finally did this, and I'm especially glad to be able to have a local small-shop do the work. They take pride in their work and it shows.

Pictures?
I'm no professional by any-means but I would have taken that 275 dollars and invested that in decent products and materials.
I wish my 98 had clean paint. Damn theives.

What I didn't have was those materials looking as fresh as possible. Now they do.
I didn't get pics for 2 reasons:
1) Unfortunately it was raining, so as soon as I got it outside it was wet. Sigh..
2) No time today.
Maybe I can get some pics this weekend.

I've got decent products and materials - a '98 ITR that drives and runs like it had 25k miles on it.

It's pouring out today, so pics would be worthless, but I'll see if I can get some nice shots this weekend and will post them. Stay tuned...

Yep. There are amps mounted to the back of the rear right seat, which I transferred from my '94 GSR (not shown). The receiver divides the sound into a sub (sealed but not usually in the hatch), a mid/bass (split with car-daddys crossover betweeen ads-320 mid-bass in door and dynaudio 3" midrange that you see), and then the soft-dome tweeter that's next to the midrange. It's a custom setup because things sounded SO bad back in '94. The receiver does all sorts of compensation including time-delay between the 3 sets which make an enormous difference.
I basically transferred the system from my GSR into the Type-R, and although the reasons I love the type-r have nothing to do with sound, at least I can really enjoy music when driving!!
And I made the enclosures for the midrange/tweeters. The pro's wanted $2500 for custom enclosures and I just said no!

I ordered the floormats from my acura dealer. They had trouble sourcing the originals (as folks know), so I'm not really sure where they got these. They look good however so I'm happy. When I bought them I actually bought a spare set just in case I sell the car the new owner will have a new set, or I can use them if these get trashed.
OK folks, I've included sharper pics. The downsizing from my large sharp shots completely blurred them over. Extra sharpening brought things back into better "focus".

so did they manage to bring the shine out again on your CW?
i moved 5 months ago and no longer have a garage. the CW is fading/oxidising under the weather. once i export the thing out of japan and get it back under cover i intend to bring it back to its original glory.

It was clean.
Some of the black protection layer has come off, so I'm going to wash it at some point and then respray it with the protective liner stuff. Thankfully where it's come off there isn't any rust. (there is light rust in other areas, but not there).
