Default Fa5 - 75k miles - Which shocks

Hey guys,
I've been out of the modification game for quite a while but now it's time to replace my shocks.

What shocks would you recommend for a stock suspension 07 SI? I value my ride quality but i definitely do not want to sacrifice any performance. I do not have any intentions of lowering or getting new springs either.

Should I go with stock (OEM) replacements, HFP, Koni (reds), or something else?

Koni's are good but its gonna be like 600 bucks for all 4. I just recently went HFP and love it. I know you said you're not interested in lowering the car but the HFP is great and it lowers the car maybe 3/4 inch. I picked up the kit for 400 plus 5 bucks shipping on amazon.

Only really a few out there:

- Tokico Blues: haven't heard too many good things about them
- Koni Sports: a little more involved with install but the best damper you can get (you need to disassemble the front struts since the fronts are inserts)
- the HFP kit is also a good one (from what I've heard)

I'm sure autoparts stores will have OEM replacement type ones, but I haven't looked.

You can check out this link too, it shows suspension setup comparisons: http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/suspe...uspension.html

What makes you think you need to replace them?

I have a set of koni rears with 200 miles on them ill sell you for $150 shipped. Just order you some front inserts and you will be rolling hard for under $500 total. The inserts will take you about 1/2 hour to install.

Are the Si shocks different than the base civic? I would hate to get OEM replacements designed for the hybrid, etc.

77k miles and degraded ride quality.

Thanks for the offer but I would prefer new ones.

I'd assume the Si ones are different since they have different spring rates than the other civics. However, I know that they are all interchangeable; it just depends on if you want more performance or if you're ok with whatever damping they come with. Most oem replacement are cheaper "universal" types.

Oh yeah, here are 2 more shocks that I forgot to mention.
- Skunk2 (haven't heard too many good things about them)
- Tokico HTS

It seems like the only good OEM replacement shocks are of course the OEM parts; all other shocks seem subpar except for the Konis and the Tokico HTS (but they cost more).

Wierd that your struts are out at only 77k. Do you take speed bumps going really fast or something?

Honestly, if you need to change them and want to get a little performance HFP kit is the best bet!

Look at this way, it's a better spring, better shock which equates to a nice upgrade! I garantuee you will not regret it. The best part is that it's OEM meaning you have a problem not an issue Honda will deal with it!

When you are looking for the best bang for the buck you can't get better then the HFP... it is what it is Honda Factory Performance!
