2009 Civic Si sedan the only one in germany
Hi Honda Tech members.
I'm from germany and drive a 05 Civic em2. yesterday i drove 500 miles all the way accros germany to take a look at the only Civic Si sedan in europe which is approved. It is a red Si Sedan from 2009. the link below u can see it.
http://www.hondapower.de/forum/showt...I-4-T%C3%BCrer
The guy who imported it said, that there is no problem getting spare parts and accessories. But when i take a closer look at the car i was shoked.
There were scratches all over the paint and stone chips, door panels was allegedly damaged by the import because a key has been forgotten in the car and the car had to be broken. The fog light glas was broken on the passenger side. and some other things. the car had run about 26000 miles. the engine was okay, but what was also the only one. He wanted to give me for my EM2 6500€. the si should then still cost 10000€. so 10000 bugs, 16500 without my em2 for a car in a miserable condition.
my questions to you are: how mutch do i pay for i such a door panel and fog light about and where can i order it exept honda US. and how mutch do you guys in US pay for a 09 SI sedan with 26k miles and the HFP spiolerkit. would you pay the 16500€ (about 23500$) for such a car.
thank to the US

$23000 for what sounds like a bucket of a si is not a good price, i paid $25000 for a brand new one. Did the $23000 include shipping and what not?
OP, there are several online Honda dealerships that probably do international shipping.
Majestic Honda is a good one to start with
Majestic doesn't offer international shipping... I know, I asked to ship me something to Canada and they said US only!
I just pulled the trigger on an 08 Si 4 door with NAV and certified by Honda (7/100k warranty) had 42K miles lease return - excellent shape - paid about 18900 plus fees which was a little higher than I would like but its in AMAZING shape and knew it would sell very quickly if I turned it down - asking price was 23K (SoCal Honda market)
I dont know how much shipping and certification would cost but there are more Si's here that should pass with a little TLC
I can tell you to make friends with an American Service memeber with orders to Germany - have him buy an Si and then he can take it with him to Germany - sell it to you after it passes inspection - take care of him for the trouble
Kids get orders to Germany all the time - half my military police class had orders to europe or japan!
All about who you know - in terms of the damage - cosmetics are tough - but I dont think the parts will be hard to find - its the hassle/time waiting for them that will be the issue (along with the cost)

Fog lights would not worry bout and even door panels you can get. The foglights you can cheap aftermarket ones. I highly suggest because even oem or aftermaket they use highly cheap thin plastic/or glass and it just breaks eventually. The door panel can be had, probably be your most expensive item because shipping going to be alot to germany.
But alot of us can help you get what you need. That seems like a great deal to me.

well, thanks for your responses.
I checked some some cars from the used car marked, i dont know which sites are best but I find some sedans.

I don't know but they seem to be in a good condition to me. But there are big differences between those cars. you can buy a 2009 with 17000 miles for 19000$, yut you can also buy a 2008 with 37000 miles for the same price. why are there so big differences?
what is the price for a...lets say 2009 SI sedan....with about 20000 miles in general??
I think about to import a Si sedan myself. so i need information about good price conditions.
I talked to a german importer. He said all costs for an import together are about 10000$. If i decide to do this, he will import the car to me. He also can handle this with the german TÜV and admission.
If i do this it would be the second SI sedan in germany
I really would like a Si sedan with coilovers, wheels and JDM rear conversion.
someone sell his??
because these are the things i definitely will do if i had one.

It all comes down to how serious you are about it. I understand you want the car to be minty but if you're planning on doing the importing yourself be prepared to pay a bit more than what that guy is asking. Certain things can be fixed like paint scrapes, etc. It also depends on how **** you are about things ya know. The car looks stunning from the pictures but I understand that's 10,000 of your hard earned cash. I hope you come to a decision that's best for you. If it were me I would have bought it. Only because I like the si. lol, but then again in Germany don't you guys get a type-r? or was the ep3 the last type-r you guys got?
To me I just try to get the best deal you could for the one thats there in germany, unless you do not like the color than id suggest going another route. But if I did the math right that car cost 23k and the cars you are looking at cost 19k plus another 10k in shipping and who knows what taxes or fees and what not but if not at least 29k, you are willing to spend 6k more for 6k less miles doesn't to be worth it even with the dings or damages. its really small.
BUT THE biggest thing for me is at least you can inspect the car you are getting, if you get an imported car, what you import is what you get, Just saying could be worse who knows.
Last part about the 2008 and 2009 didn't follow all that but in the USDM the 2009 is the year it started that the 4 door got a face lift, and minor interior and exterior differences, but mostly for the better.

yes the car looks stunning on the pictures, but this isn't reality. on the pictures the car is clean and has no damages. but when i looked at it is was.
i don't know what this jerk has done with it when it was in germany but it wasn't that good as you can see on the pics. like I said, there were scratches all over the paint and stone chips and the thing with the door panel. in additional the importer was from poland...don't trust polish people. He imported the car in august 2010. so the car was already gone by one year. Enough time to mismanage it.
I don't know. you know the european type R really looks like ****. I don't like it.
you guy from US can be glad that you have your Sedan and coupe. we only have this disease.
I also want a car that not everyone goes, that is stylish and even has a bit of power. and the only one to be driving a sedan in germany is quite cool.

People do not like the UK euro civic, or type-r for that matter because it more about interior and flashy more Ricer stuff than performance.
The FN2 was a worse car than the previous civic type-r EP3? Mainly just because car is heavier and worse rear suspension setup. Torsion bar.
IT happens in the US, the new 2012 Civic's and Civic Si's Are not great. Would to me make that car in germany more popular.
But yeah Personally the front head light setup with grill pretty ugly to me, and the rear wing across the rear hatch glass would be so bad to see anything. But I do agree the interior is so sexy.

A lot of people in the states would love to have that "disease"
Sea freight for a car is around $2500 for roll on roll off service plus any forwarding fees and import duty, bringing it over in a container and expect to pay on the plus side of $4000

lots of this stone chips all over the car, the broken door panel and the fog light is damaged....take a look at the HFP front lip. is that normal with the clearance? looks like a fool mounted it. isn't there such a black rubber thing around it usally?
After having lots of friends import JDM cars those damages are highly minimal I'm sure it bothers you but you'd have the only Si in Germany. Every single JDM car i've seen come out of container has at least a lip ripped off, some scratches because A) Custom Officers are a bunch of useless ********* and ****ed up cars B) The cars still move in shipping depending on your transport. Those saying shipping would be 2500 is not even close to accurate quote add a couple thousand too that then you have to deal with duties as well which if not mistaken in germany still 16% on the cars value (or does that only apply to luxury cars nowadays). So just there your at least at 6-7k fees on top of purchase price and you still need to register it legally with your license bureau which most probably will be a pain in the *** then you have to deal with insurance. So 16k euros isn't all that much at all. I'd still negotiate as much as possible since it is a limited market the car would sell too but i'm sure there is alot of interest in it it's still the only one in germany.
yes there are a lot of interrests but the car was importet in 2010 and its already a year here. Nobody buys it so it can't be as clean as it should be
You can replace the fog light with Lexan (so it wont break, and you can do it yourself to save money)
The side panel..I wouldnt really worry about. if anything you can just put a "I <3 JDM" sticker or Bondo it :p
The HFP front lip..seriously, if it bothers you that much, again you can just DIY and fix it.
I would ask him to lower the price, however. Tell him exactly the same things that you told us.
Lower about 1000 Euro and see where taht gets you

Best of luck!
EDIT: Also..only 26,000 miles? I had approximately 39,000 miles with my 2007 Civic EX coupe..originally from Canada (yeap, I have my own 'import'
)That MAY be the reason for the price being so high.
But whatever the reason may be, try to get the price low low lower!

I have the HFP kit and if properly applied by a Honda dealer, it will always come with a rubber gasket to space the kit from the body, and provide a contrasting trim feature. Any body shop can do the work, but I am not sure any shop other than Honda will use the gasket.
