Phase1 #1530
After a long withdrawal from the forum I'm back and ready to show you, my wonderful fans, what I've been up to. Needless to say the R has been repainted and is ready for pick up from the pain & body shop. Stay tuned for more after these messages...

News Flash....this just in I'm sure all of you enjoyed your Labor day weekend! I put in some work
In regards to everything I was able to install, the Mugen Intake and a larger clutch master cylinder I would say are the most impressionable.
The Mugen Intake I'd say it was definitively worth it , even though I battled with myself if I had made the right decision, via performance, cost wasn't an issue. It's a pain in the *** to install, take EXTREME CAUTION as to not "break or severely bend your A/C lines. Be patient and take your time you'll get it there. I had to unbolt my transmission mount, just to give you an idea of what may have to come out, unbolt, or bend/move. This intake does really start opening up at 5000rpm, after VTEC engages it's strong until red line. I absolutely love it, the snarl it gives off when you give the caR gas, awesome! Take in mind that I've got a near new Competition Stage 1 Clutch, 4.7 FD, matted with the larger Omni Power Quicklutch Master Cylinder vs OEM master cylinder. Acceleration feels it has increased, and shifting is firmer more crisp. Your going to have to get used to the new master cylinder because it's as if the clutch is an "on, off switch". It's fully adjustable, hopefully it'll last.
Unfortunately I didn't have enough time for the Buddy Club thinner head gasket, and doing preventable maintenance timing belt, water pump, etc. There is also a reason for the "fake lip" & "front bumper", I'd rather not cut up my OEM original that needs to get repaired. I'm using what I have a template so I know what adjustments I need to make, to make it a cleaner install/cutting when I buy a complete new OEM replacement.
As with everyone and their builds keep up the good progress, Yo, R boy fresh I see you money, keep doing ya thang!
Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement and curiosity.

Well after a brief hibernation period. My good buddy of mine and I started work on the R again. This time we were able to get the head taken off, clean out, and resurfaced my intake and exhaust valves which had some funky carbon deposits on them. Looked brand new after I put them through the bench grinder. Installed new valve steam seals which fixed my oil consumption problem! It is very important to read past articles to help track down issues (thanks older timers)
I love my new head gasket. Buddy Club version, works great along with the APR head bolts/studs. Did a complete tune up, timing belts/the works and the R definitely opened up! The only thing left do do now is take her to the dyno to see what my numbers will be. Enjoy the pics

Great progress! I envy the amount of time you have to spend on your caR
The JDM optional rear when bought new actually came with a template and rubber trim pieces. It looks so much better than not having them in there at all.
I did a similar job on my rear rear strut covers (http://forums.itrexpo.com/zerothread?id=13704).

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I work on the R when I can. Those valve locks are a bit tricky at first to put in, but once you get the hang of it it's a piece of cake. I'd like to make more progress, but I'm content for now. I have to wait for the major stuff later
it'll be great!
it'll be great!
I'm the process of a complete head to toe rebuild
I'm looking to purchase a 2.5 high flow catalytic converter. The ek9 type-r and dc2 type-r share the same cat diminsions, o2 bung, length? I.E. Toda Header w/Fujitsubo RM-01A cat back will fit?
If the above answer is no then I'm going to go with the TEGIWA HIGH FLOW SPORTS CAT from ebay via England, and have the 02 bung put in through a local exhast shop.
In the mean time enjoy the pics...The story is I threw cylinder #3 connecting rod through the back of the block, via from what Acura told me could have been a oil pump sensor gone bad. The head was also damaged is the process. I then began to think do I give up on my dream caR and buy something else snice I already have the title and the R is paid for. After a brief conversation in my head, I got on the the net and started searching for red print C5 blocks and heads. Long story short I've got a brand new B18C5 back in my R along with an Excedy Stage 1 clutch and shes alive and running. Stay tuned for more...

I wasn't sure how I was gonna bounce back from seeing this. I prayed and God helped make sure I was taken care of. My dReam will be realized in it's goal of what I think an R should look like.
