Hello guys!
As of TODAY 2/25/2012
Sorry ive been seemingly slacking.. But I havent... Been busy trying to work something out due to the following developments:
Unfortunately, Its just not feasible to do the Albins set right now, Ive talked to James and we both agree....`at this point the turnaround is just too far out for a number of us AND the exchange rate is upside down. Getting 5 people together with 2k AU (Closer to 2200 US and getting worse-non refundable) deposit has proven to be rough with timing... also there is NO gaurantee that the rate wont get WORSE for the final payment....Meaning that if people committed and upon delivery couldn't come up with the cash they would forfeit the cash as SF would have to pick up the slack.
Its now at closer to 4+ months as Albins is really busy. Not only that, but as mentioned earlier, if LESS than 5 sets (Which we did have 3-4, but never the 5) the sets go up to OVER 5K a piece (BEFORE SHIP).... I cant do that financially nor do I want to wait.... Even with the deal with the exchange rate upside down, and after shipping and what not, We were starting to look at better than 4500 each set, WITH 5 guys...
In light of this, I have been talking to Gabriel at Saenz in Argentina and they have H22 sets ready to go, and after shmoozing....Ive got a good deal going through their US distributor. The deal is for 3 sets (I have 2 guys so far) He will do 2850 + ship from FL per set.
Included is the forged Input shaft, forged straightcut syncro engaged 1-5 gearsets and special split bearing the set uses on the Input shaft. Its a a drop in solution. This is with all of the upgraded gears and whatnot as well (I had run one of their older prototype sets, and after having upgraded the set with the newer 3 and 4 It worked great at 700-750 WHP), never broke it after the upgrades.
The set uses H or F series 1 and 2nd gear syncros, sleeves, springs and hubs. OEM or carbon, both completely compatible. I had great luck with both....3-4 uses a H23/F22 Syncro set (The synchro dogs on the gearare the 50,mm F series or H23 style), slider, hub ,springs and fork (they are smaller than the H22 stuff)... 5/R uses either H or F 5/R hub, sleeve springs and fork....
That means you can use a set of F forks and sliders. H23 forks and sliders, or Go with a H22 1/2 and 5/R set of forks and use just the F or H23 3-4 fork...
The set uses ANY H22 final drive. OEM or aftermarket. It is a drop in deal. Assemble with your sleeves syncros hubs etc, check for MS endplay... Shim accordinly and youre good to go.
The gears are short, but MAN does the box make a difference in acceleration. A car I usually was side by side with at 500 WHP on a M2Y4 tranny... I put the Saenz set in it and I would get out 2-3 cars. I run 26" tires and will be using a 4:1 final. Last time around I was using a OEM 4.26 FD. Even with the 25.4" 235/60-15 M&H it was a bit short (Like a B216 tranny LOL), but I liked it. Im running a G-20 M&H now so its a true 26.1" tire and the 4:1 FD will help a good bit, Ive farted around with a gear calc and am trying it to see how I like it, If I dont Ill go back to OEM ratio and have a final made thats stronger..... Jusat want to test different FD ratios
Im all over wanting to buy the new sets, especially how things look for the Albins just being unrealistic at this point.
If this is confusing I can explain it further in detail.... Feel free to PM me (with your phone number please)
Gear ratios are 3.071 1st, 2.153 2nd, 1.667 3rd, 1.30 4th and 1.0 5th. I used Redline lightweight shockproof fluid in mine with great results. Torco RTF would be another great option. I dont suggest using anything else. I had ABSOLUTELY ZERO issues with any shifting (IT SHIFTED LIKE BUTTER EVEN THE 4-5 SHIFT flat footed at 9K using the LWSP with OEM or Carbon Syncros.... Even when cold, there were no problems The box always shifted flawlessly. All bearings looked good using it and never had any kind of heat looking like it went through it and Id drive the car for HOURS at a time on the street regularly
Looks like this (This is the old Prototype I had that I beat on for years)

Im confident in the Saenz set and want another one in my car. NOW... We need ONE MORE GUY . If you're interested in Blabbing, PM me. Looking to do this in the next 2-3 weeks, As mentioned myself and another are good to go and have cash NOW.... Tax time is here... Spend your money :O). I need a set in my car NOW, and this is a far better and stronger option than the Mfactory set available. From experience. Ive almost got a friend of mine thats already Broke the Mfactory set at 550 Wheel to sell it and get in on this, IF he does, its all we need and its a done deal.
Full amount of sets will be paid to Saenz, then upon Receipt of hardware by Saenz USA.... They will work out our individual shipping details and We are IN BUSINESS!!!!
Nice thing is they have parts available on the shelf as well should anything happen and you don't have to wait months... When I did need something the US guys were awesome , I had it in 2 weeks.
AS SOON AS WE GET 1 MORE GUY WERE DOING THIS....
THANKS GUYS!!!

+1 for Albins. I've installed one of their sets in a K-series, and it's been holding up fantastic. I rarely touch H-series transmissions though.

Thanks Dave!
Both Mitch and I have Cash right now to do it... Were trying to get 2 more and at that point may just eat the fifth and sell it once we recieve them to get them DONE and in while the exchange rate is good (Irts better than it has been recently)... But were really trying to get 5 guys. I KNOW the demand is there!!!
The US to AU dollar exchange is very good right now... its about 6% more US to make the AU mark so say "If" it were to be around 3800 AU, US it would be a touch under 4K :O)
Im keeping my eye on the stock market for other reasons, but watching for this too :O)

UPDATE 10-9-11:
--------------------
We ARE still trying to make this happen. I have talked to James at Speedfactory last week, and have confirmed that we can do it as follows:
Half down, and half at delivery. All funds will be handled and managed by Speedfactory. Upon reciept of half of the total funds for 5 gearsets, production will get underway... as mentioned 60-90 days is expected, however they have been known to crank stuff out on the short end of the expectation.
Price will depend on AUD to USD exchange rate at the time of deposit, but once deposit has been made, we will be locked in so it wont get any more expensive.
P.S- I Just checked the exchange and its not upside down, ie: 3900 is 3814 rather than the 4150 it was at the time I put this up. That is very cool, with the economy how it is... it fluctuates, so Hopefully when we get some people together.... Its in our favor such as it is now. :O)
Soooo....
Thiose that have expressed SERIOUS interest are

LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!
