Grinding in 5th
ok when i'm driving my teg i like to drive in high gear so whenever i put it into 5th it grinds no matter what i do with the clutch it does it does anyone know what this is i have a 2000 GS-R
ok my car is a rebuilt so no it doesn't and i'm not sure what tranny it's got bc it has a short shift kit with upgraded clutch and stuff so.
I had the same problem with my 94 GSR. The grinding, however, disappeared as mysteriously as it arrived...it only used to happen when shifting into 5th above 80mph. Sorry I can't help more, but it does sound like the synchros are going bad. At least Integra trannies are cheap and easy to find.
My friend has the same problem in his Del Sol.
He changed the tranny fluid and it helped a little but still grinds.
He found out that if he double clutches it doesn't grind.

double clutch INTO 5th? what the hell u talking about....hey man...when u drive going into 5th, try moving the shifter very slowly into 5th well not too slow but relatively slow, that way the synchro (if it's not completely dead) doens't have to work too hard to match speeds.
sounds like it is time for a tranny rebuild (5th synchro).
might as well throw some other stuff in there too while you are at it.

alternatively, you could check the gear shift rod and the associated parts to see if something is bent, but it doesn't sound like it.
