Default 1997 EK Hatch Speedo problems

Last night my speedo started bouncing all over the place and this morning will not even work. Any ideas on what it might be?

Any CEL codes? Also check whether 7.5A dash fuse 15 is blown.

Does the CEL work? Are checking for codes with a code reader?

If you turn the key from off to ON(II), does the charge light (battery symbol) remain on steady and does the CEL turn on and then off after 2 seconds?

That was going to be my suggestion.
I was waiting for OP to reply to Ron's question, but that's a strong possibility (cracked solder joints).

If you're having the same issues then try following the advice that's already been given.

I just tested this this morning and the battery light comes on but no CEL. Also while I was in there I noticed a yellow 2 prong plug hanging under the dash. What could that be?

Sounds like the srs connector but im thinking 92-92 civics so it might not be. Could be just a bad speedo.

That's not good. Check whether the bulb has been removed or is burned out.
