I'm checking on the feasibility of importing the JDM 96-98 EK bumpers with factory mouldings. If anyone here is really interested let me know. Once I have enough interested and have the logistics figued out I can have it in US (NorthCal) in about 6-8 weeks.
However being that it is a large items to ship once it arrives in US I still have to look ahead to see how I can reduce shipping cost.
Fitment is 96-98 Civic HB's and Sedan/Coupe too! I dont' think anybody in US has the JDM bumper for Sedan/Coupe yet. It can also be fitted to 99+ EK's if you want...
These would not be factory JDM pieces but will be from a large ISO 9002 certified aftermarket bumper maker. Quality and fit will be top notch.

some pictures for those of you that never seen them. btw people pay upwards of $1700 just to get the bumpers here to USA. that's pretty crazy. i will be able to do it for substantially less.
also, as far as i know no one has the 96-98 rear asia bumper for sedan/coupe.
ps, pictures from http://bustedshocks.com

i don't think anyones will bite unless these bumpers are less than $300 ea
1) you can get new o.e. sir bumpers for around $500 each
2) you are not selling o.e. bumpers.

That's too funny - I was gonna post those exact same pics to help show people what you're talking about.

If I had a 1996-1998 hatch I'd do it, but I'm a 1992-1993 hatch guy for life!

The problem is actually really GETTING them, not just getting prices and never actually SEEING the bumpers stateside.
If you know where to get the JDM bumpers then by all means please tell us since it's so easy.
Thanks in advance!

I'd only be interested in the rear bumper, i love the look how the rear bumper helps the flow of the side door molding.

I'm pretty sure I'd never do the bumper guard deals on a 1992-1995 since it was never O.E in any country. Plus our bumper curves too much where the door moldings line up - it's not flat enough to properly fit the "guard" looking things there anyways, right? Do post pics though please...
Why only the rear bumper though Phil?
The fronts complete the look too.
Well as soon as Frank/Ghettoracer gets prices I'm sure he'll post them up for us, but if for some reason he can't then i'm sure he could tell any of us via e-mail.
Frank's a good guy - been doing the Honda crap for a long, long time and is very well-respected by many H-Car enthusiasts.

Id never do bumper gaurds on my 94 CX either. Its a waste IMO. Kudos to the guy who did it, it must have been really hard to do.
Here is why i wouldnt do the EK4 front bumper
I think the black lip covers all the necessary black in the front. The black moldings on the door are not an eyesore because they continue (wrap around) the rear molding. So your eye is caught by the black and it flows off the rear of the car.
Ill take some pictures next week at school.

ack that came out kinda ugly.
black mirrors almost rquired to keep the black accent theme good looking. rims makes a big different too.
as for not being OE... good point. however i'm very confident the fit will be OEM quality. the bumper maker is the 2nd largest manufacturer in taiwan, and have some OEM contracts.
btw the OEM price of $500. does that factor in freight to US already? not counting shipping within US.

I would guess that if you could sell them for 300 each, then you might do ok.
Anymore and you will only sell a limited amount, especially considering they aren't OEM, regardless of quality.
You can IM me if you want to discuss this in private.

It stops too abrubtly for my tastes.
When I look at a car I'm looking for FLOW. That's why I personally like the look of the O.E front lip as opposed to the C/F ones. I like to see black do a complete circle on a car - that **** with only one bumper looks funny IMO.
This is one reason why I'd have to paint the front lip and side skirts if i had an EK, because you can have the black front lip and side skirts, but the correct O.E rear bumper has no black across the bottom - what's up with that?
Oh well, I'm just an **** picky bastard.

I'd get them if i had an ek.

Last night i just sold a set of front and rear bumpers for $325.00
A long time ago i bought a rear bumper brand new from inlinefour (it took them forever to get it), and one of the moldings is still on back order because honda no longer makes the moldings. The bumper brand new was like $400.00 shipped in the oem honda box, you can even pick which oem "JDM" color.
As for those bumpers being on a coupe/4 door yes people have them in the us, i sold a set for a coupe/ 4 door to some dude in LA.

You're about as bad as the JDM Bandwagoneers with the Anti-JDM Bandawagon bro!
I swear you post more about anti-SPOON and anti-Slipstream than any other person here on H-T.
...Just an observation, not trying to pick on you.
If these bumpers come stock for US hatches, I'll get them shaved.
Sorry, but I think they're ugly.

*shrug* do you guys have to voice your opinion if you don't like it? i'm not even asking anyone if it looks good or not. some like it some don't. personally i like mouldings on 96-98 cars. with proper black accents they look great IMO.
what i am asking is for the people that ARE interested be sure to drop me a IM or email so I can get an idea on interest. should be able sell them for $750 or less (front and rear bumper, including moldings) hmm i'm gonna make a web page and FAQ for it.
ps, i should've titled this thread "Asia" EK bumpers instead of JDM. maybe that'll shut some of you up. the mouldings are totally functional in Asia because it is much more crowded and parkings are way tigher. bumper rubs are common occurence.
