Hey guys,

Woke up yesterday morning and saw that my car was broken into. It looks like they went though the softtop. Cops dusted for fingerprints and collected evidence, so we'll see what happens from their investingation...

I was parked in my reserved spot in my development, with the entrance of many houses facing it. It is well lit, so its surprising that noone saw anything.

And yes, it did have an alarm, but the guys also disconnected the battery.

To me, it looked like they knew what they were doing. It was a 10 minute job TOPS....def professional!

But from the looks of it, the following was missing:

1) Seats (Black/Red)
2) Cluster
3) Cluster surround controls
4) Shift ****
5) Radio

Some jerkoff in a Del Sol, Civic or Prelude will be rocking my jacked gear now....hope they burn in hell!

The car is located on the South Shore of Staten Island.

If anyone has info to help catch these ****** F*CKERS, please PM me.

WTF, seeing **** like this pisses me off....please tell me somebody saw something, where there any witnesses???

def not professionals, i'll bet it's a civic/RSX/prelude owner.

They cut the cluster out to retrofit it into their civic/rsx/prelude, the seats line up in the front on stock s2k rails, shift **** fits, they only took the cluster surround cuz it had to come out for the cluster.. if they were just in it for the monetary value of the parts they woulda took the center console (hell after the ****'s off you just yank up and it comes out).. sorry for the loss and make sure you take the insurance settlement check. You'll be far far far FAR ahead that way when compared to just paying the deductible to repair it.

whats even more disconcerting is the SOB's didnt just take the cluster they cut your car's harness so the bastards can have the pig tails.

dude god help you with the insurance i have seen a lot of poor s2000's totaled out because of this **** :-(

OMFG.... Anyone who has s2000 seats on none s2000 should be thoroughly checked out. I hate when they take seats... Im sorry to hear that. Time for hardtop?

so shitty sorry bro, thats a lot of damage they did, dash harness and more. might as well do upgrades
btw parts alone from what I've seen are $13,529 plus more small parts plus labor. wouldnt be surprised if they do total it

A couple of people said they heard something, another gave a description to the cops of a vehicle they saw. We'll see what comes up.

Is there part of the harness or part of the airbag myself? Just curious incase I want to fix this after its totalled.

We'll see about that. Its funny...I was close to getting a hardtop 2 months back, and it never happened. Who's to say this wouldnt have happened otherwise.

I'm still waiting to see what happens with the insurance company. I've seen my year (2006) and mileage (35k) going in the $21-$25K range, so I guess we'll see what price they come up with.

Anyone have experience negotiating with the insurance company for a totaled payout??

Oh, I knew it was totaled when the police asked me to list out what was taken. I had about $10K in parts in my head, minus labor, at the time.


Hopefully, this process with the insurance company won't be too stressful.

Now, the next thing is do I (1) Buy a new S2000, (2) Buy a different car or (3) Purchase the car back and fix it myself with used parts?

 

car is totalled for sure.
whole dash wiring has to be replaced not including labor. thats a ton of money alone

When you have your new s2000.. lace up your kicks.. enjoy life to the fullest.. and just picture these losers scraping and struggling to get by.. in and out of jail.. addicted to drugs.. eating oodles and noddles(no hate i did my college time w/ the noodles)
