Default Bringing old betsy out of retirement, give the good old b-series another shot

just want to build a weekend beater for the track, luckily I have most of the stuffs laying around the shop. So we threw together something to have fun at the track on the weekend. There're a few items still missing, like camshafts and a dog box.
Motor:

B18A block aebs sleeves 85mm bore,
stock b18a crank
supertech 85mm 13.5:1 pistons
GRP aluminum rods
Arp 1/2 inch head studs
B16a cyl head with full supertech valvetrains, 1mm os valves
BMC race intake manifold
custom made header
Spec twin discs
70mm throttle (this is temporarily, james from BMC will build a dual throttles out the hood setup)
b16 tranny with quaife

Sick build
In order to run the 1/2 studs, did you have to make the holes on top of the head bigger?
You know, to fit the socket?

beside from drilling the holes in the head for the studs, I didn't have to do anything else.
I need cams reccomendations, I've been out of the loop for a while. My old setup used to be on crane rollers. A friend of mine works at web said he has something for it but won't tell me the specs, lol. I just need this thing up and running first, then test out couple set of cams in the progress. Anyone?

thanks man, I thought the samething, start out with a set of pro3 then go from there. My friend from web swore that his cams blew the pro3 out the water like almost 20whp more, lol.

Looking good, I would keep it simple and get some pro3. Price is good and you can always upgrade later down the road. Good luck on the build van wsit to see your intake manifold set up.

nice compression, it's to be run on pump gas, correct? You just need a bit of duration to keep it from pinging. I suppose for a weekend drag car you could run it on just the big lobes. How heavy of car are you putting it into, what are your et and mph goals?

Have you considered running a different final drive like a 4.9 or something similar? Gearing in a "big bore, big displacement" motor IMO is the best performance upgrade available, especially being an NA setup. Hell even on stock motors the FD swaps available can drop ETs up to .5 sec in some cases.

It's great to see another car coming out. I'm sure it will be fast and can't wait to see it run. Good luck

I'm getting a set by friday from Web. My friend made me a deal so good that I just couldn't pass it up, lol. I have an old set of jun 3 I keep in my tool box that I'll crank it the engine up with it for now.
