on my old f22b1 you couldnt really even feel the vtec. nothing like the kick from a dohc vtec. also i dont think on a stock car vtec kicks in that early. i though it was more around 4500-5500

I can't really tell what the OP is saying. vtec doesn't even start until 4400 and you don't really feel it until 5800 when the secondaries open up.

Because that's the RPM when it's supposed to engage. It's optimized for fuel economy not power.

well what im trying to say is that im positive that it engages at 2400 because when i unplug the solenoid it has no power what so ever all the way to redline but when it is pluged in it has power all the way from 2400 to redline i know it sounds weird but i think something is wrong in my wiring somewhere

with a stock ecu it will not engage that early. for it to engage as early as that there must be some kind of vtec controller/chipped ecu involved

It's suppose to do that.

Thats how you test if VTEC is working or not. If it runs strong with it plugged in then laggs when disconnect it, the whole circuit and solenoid is in working condition. I don't get why you're running a P12 ECU in a '94 Accord EX???? It should be POA if the car's a 5spd.

Now I am going to quote the factory service manual, from the section "F22B1 engine :construction and function: VTEC - Control system", page 5-7.

Valve timing change conditions:
Engine speed between 2300-3200 RPM (depending on manifold pressure)
Vehicle speed greater than 6.2 MPH
Engine Coolant temperature 50*F or higher
Engine Load (as determined by manifold negative pressure)
It is supposed to engage at 2400

Everybody who says they feel it at 4400 is full of it, thats roughly the peak of the F22s torque curve.
Holmesmanny - just.... no. Not even remotely close to how Vtec works, it's either on or off and there is no such mechanism called a "secondary" at any RPM. It just turns on, bam at a certain RPM and stays on until the motor slows down or you back off the throttle.

Half of the ppl thinks VTEC pop as hard as a DOHC VTEC engine, but it's not. I can't even barely feel mine even when I installed my Bisi Level 2 VTEC cam in. Actually, I can't even feel it.

These F22B1 are made for Fuel Economy; not for Performance like a DOHC VTEC. People needs to understand that.

What secondaries?
You don't mean secondary manifold butterflies right, because there are none.

Ditto, you hear it more than anything. Although it is quite noticeable when it is not working.
