Default Ctr ls vtec combo help

I been doing some research and been getting different info since what I'm planning to do isn't te exact thing that I find, so I thought I'd make my own post for my exact build
I'm planning on doing an ls vtec with a gsr head, Ctr pistons with eagle rods. Thing is I read that if I do this combo, my compression will be in the 12s and will need to be ran on race gas. Idk if it's true or not so I'm seeing if anybody on here knows anything about this combo. Good or bad.
So pretty much stock block besides Ctr pistons and the rods I'm planning to put in and stock Gsr head with b16 cam gears, planning on getting arp heat bolts
What do u guys think?

Ctr pistons in a ls block with the ls crank/rods and gsr head will give you a CR way over 13. I cant remember how much of the top of my head but its over 13. If you have e85 available around you then you can run it. But you will have to trim your piston domes on the sides because they will hit the head.

Found some great info.
https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/b16b-ctr-piston-ls-block-2829955/

LS block - ls crank - ctr pistons + gsr head = 14.3
ls block - ls crank - ctr pistons + b16 head = 13.9
ls block - ls crank - ctr pistons + Ls head = 13.1

Thanks for all that info
If the compressions that high I doubt I'm going to be doing this!!
I just thought I'd do it sice the guy I'm getting the Gsr head from is throwing in the pistons and my boy has some eagle rods for 120, but now I might just go stock block for the vtec

Most efficient ls/vtec setup for all motor is ITR heade with itr pistons, ls block, itr tranny. If that is too expensive for you, gsr head, ls block (itr/b16 pistons) b16 tranny. It's not advised to have forged rods and oem stock pistons. I almost always see the forged rods with psitons as a combo. You'd be best off with the ls block and p30 pistons (jdm B16) because with a gsr head they render more compression for all motor than the jdm itr's but lower than the dangerous ctr's.

Yea I wAs thinking the sane thing with forged rods and oem pistons but needed some more info on that. I'm looking into getting some b16 pistons now, since I have a b16 tranny, but if not I'll just leave my block stock for now

Don't leave the ls block stock, that will defeat the purpose of the vtec head with no compression on the motor.

OP .. go for it.. you got the answer you were looking for.
Because this guy's friend's, brothers did it, you can do it too.

On a side note.. 12.5 doesn't require racegas, neither does 13.0. It comes down to alot of tuning and reading plugs to properly make a car run efficiently on pump gas. But hey.. because a few people had good success and good tuners doing it, means everyone could do it too..**No..**

CTR pistons when used with the LS rods and crank and the GSR head tend to have piston to head contact.... It's pretty cool when you pull the head off and se "IN" stamped on the quench pad.

Do u daily it? What kind of numbers?

Idk this sounds like a bad setup now especially with eagle rods. I'm thinking of just boosting it since it's my daily or just leaving it like this n start taking apart the ls in my bros Rex n building that up
I'm glad I asked this question before I started getting all the stuff n building, appreciate it guys
