Hey just need to know on these pistons ive searched but nothing on how these pistons are.. Thinking about getting a set for an all motor dd car..

 

K series guy run them with out issues.

 

built a friends motor wit the 11.5:1s. no problems so far

 

Ran a set of 14:1 compression for 2 years and they were fine.

 

I have used 4 to 5 sets over the last 18 months 0 issues with them and now just about to fit a B20 in my DD fitted with them as well.

 

Honestly havent found a "bad" supertech product yet.

 

sounds good guys think about putting a 11.5-12 cr on my dd...but might think on going 11.5 for that daily driving what you guys think?

 

same friend runnin his b20v. tuned at 190hp wit those 11.5s daily driven for over a year nd no issues

 

Anyone running the 12.5:1 high compression 84.5mm B20 pistons?

Is is too high of compression with an ITR head (stock)? It's strickly a track car. I'm trying to debate between 11.5 or 12.5:1

 

What about the rest of the setup what conrods are you going to run.

 

im building a 84mm b16a with some. my research didnt bring anything up with the pistons themselves but a few years back people were having issues with their rings smoking some. they supposedly fixed the problem but im using cp rings on mine just in case.

 

im building a 81.5mm spare b18c with the full done version (on stock rods)
looking good, very lightweight and forged

 

Conrods? ****, stock OEM rods with ARP rod bolts.

 

when we went to put the bottom end together wenoticed that the box of cp rings and the supertech rings are exactly the same. and the rings look exactly the same too. the boxes looked identical. if we had mixed up the boxes we wouldnt have been able to figure out which was which. seriously

 

Several years ago I built a 12.8:1 85mm B20 using these pistons. Still running great, the only thing I didn't like was the piston slap. I set the clearance to the spec sheet which was way too loose.

K20 pistons for a road race motor with experimental cams. Needed more clearance on the exhaust side so a bridgeport mill compliments of Applied flow was done.

 

i have a set of 85mm supertech im about to put in an 85x89 gsr. havent installed them yet but they look great out of the box and the price was right

 

This thread made me feel better about my recent purchase. 12.5:1 Supertech's for my 85x89 B20V rebuild.

Agreed. From what I've heard, the ST pistons come out of a Mahle factory. I'm sure there are arguably better pistons out there, but ST makes great quality everything.
