to rattle can or not, that is the Q
ok so i have two fenders and two bumpers that i need to paint im debating on two options 1. go to paintscratch(i think thats what it was called) and get them to mix up some rattle cans 2. or buy a air compressor(cuz i know im gonna need it later for stuff) and a cheap spray gun and try my hand at real painting. im dong this just as a DIY project and for the experiance, but i wanna do it right primer, base, and clear coats all with the oem paint code but all those cans sound like they re gonna add up and its not like like a air comp n spray gun are cheap either
i am no professional so expect it to not be perfect(i just want the colors to match) but i would like to do it on a budget so any advice is appreciated or recommendations for other ways to approach this!!!
thanks guys

Just buy the damn compressor ha....maybe you could check out my thread i got goin, its got a pic of my compressor i think. 35 gallon craftsman 400$ w/ hoses. If you are serious about cars your going to need one. NO LESS than 35 gallon
I rattle canned my civic a few years ago, just because I had no money at the time and needed to stop the body from rusting. Its good because its cheap, but its cheap for a reason. It turned out half decently, but I'm now looking into doing a proper paint job and I have to sand every bit of the rattle can paint off before I can do anything, creating tons more work for myself.
In short, shell out a bit more now to save yourself a lot of hassle later.

$400 ouch id prolly just keep saving for a professional job if i got to that point lol
i found a shop in my town that puts OEM colors in cans so that's prolly the road ima be heading down, i know ill be giving myself more work down the road but the work of painting it inst necessary either im just doing it for fun/ive got the time and a little money....
o well dont want to put down fresh paint either way being so close to winter, so ima keep reseaching n gonna try for a halfway decent DIY paint job in the spring

i used rattle can green paint, and rattle can clear on my wing, wet sanded most if the orange Peel down sand paper 1000g:

next step, rubbing compound

next step, polishing compound

next step, swirl x

whole surface

still needed to clean under and around, but this is the top surface cleaned and waxed, i have another style wing now, but this looked better in person.
