valve spring shooting through head.

So just curious, what could cause a valve spring to shoot off and literally break a hole through the back of the cylinder head? Its a B20 stock engine in a 94 civic coupe.

Fresh rebuild??? If that is the case, then someone didnt compress the springs enough to get the valve keeper to seat properly. Thats my first guess.

That's ether some heavy port work or the seats were cut to deep....... Unless he's talking about it going through the valve cover. In that case the spring would have to also go through the rocker arm as well. Didn't realize the valve springs had that much spring to them!
