Default B16eng with D16transm

I'm getting a B16 engine no transm to replace existing D16, but I already have close ratio on the D transm. will this transm hold pwr/torque from a modified B16 (160+whp)? a friend will make the flange to adapt both.

It'll hold the power fine, D-series trannys are good up to about 300whp although the diff and final drive are a weak point. But what are you planning to do for a clutch? D-series input shaft is a smaller spline. Also be aware that a Z6/Y8 tranny is geared about the same as an LS tranny, it's really only short geared when compared to other D-series trannys.

thanks for your response. I will use D clutch. since I already have this Y8 tranny with X-Gear close ratio and 4.98 final. if it works with the flange I will keep it. I don't feel like spending all over again on another tranny.

You do know that D-series flywheels don't bolt up to B-series engines right? D-series uses 6 bolts, B-series uses 8. Pretty sure D-series pressure plate wont bolt up a B-series flywheel either. This basically necessitates a custom flywheel.

I'm aware of it, I'm expecting a B16 flywheel this weekend from a friend of mine and I will measure if pressure plate bolt on without problem. so far doesn't look it will fit. let you know.
