H2b vs Rebuilding the H tranny
The tranny seems to be going out on my H22a4. Looking to get a lower geared setup like the b series. Wanted to see if anyone had any decent results from built H series trannies? (also in a hurry to make 5 posts)
Go B you wont regret it.
Depends on the chassis, in an accord/prelude/odyssey chassis you want an H-series tranny, even though, yes they do kinda suck. Btw, H-series trannys use a hydraulic clutch, they use a cable linkage, this not the same thing.
Personally..depending on what vehicle since there are limitations with H2B fitment...I would go H2B. There are far more gearing options available for the B-Series trans. Transmission parts are also easier to find in most cases and you do away with the cable shifting system
Just going to depend on what chassis you are using..that will be a big factor as mentioned by 94EG8

what i said is true the b series isnt any stronger, obviously there are more gear options... h2B isnt that cheap either.. just saying the H trans isnt a waste of time..
Only thing a b series has as an advantage is the availability of aftermarket support ...and the gap is closing, but expect most future development to happen in the k arena. I've Seen one mfgs. Prototype and it is sickkkk for those guys.
If a civic of integra then axle alignment is a bennefit of H2b too.. in any thing else not only is that point moot... but being as the h series IS stronger internally (well ok, early F4s DO use the same 3rd as a GSR).. in addition to H series OEM AXLES take as much abuse as do aftermatket b series axles... not to mention after spending all the cash on a plate flywheel and cobling motormounts together for your chassis (if not a cookie cutter EG or DC) you still need to buy a gearset that costs the same... no. H2b is not a better option. There are gearsets available. There are cuffs available... there is really everything available. I've blown up more H tranny's than most have touched.. having said that.. I know who's **** works and who's doesn't. I'm not going to get into that.
Lol at he being non hydro.
Keep an eye out for our Albins H series syncroset thread. It is happening. Just finalizing details. That will make 3 manufacturers. Making synchronized sets and 4 making dogs with 3 different cuffs available.. something for everyone at a variety of pricepoints
BTW Luda is right. He has just as much experience as I do... As hes seen my results, and I his.
