D series tranny built up questions
sup guys, I was wondering what would be the ultimate build up of a D series tranny, everybody is always talking about engine built up. How about the tranny? After all that's the thing that puts the power to the floor. Any suggestions welcome!

Well there are a few people on this forum that built their hybrid trannies and pieced them together from other transmissions. B18C5-EH2(tom) built his hybrid tranny. Just search for his created posts, he is/was in the process of building up an older D-series motor and built himself a nice gearing transmission.

this is a good idea, but i don't think it's very popular; because, a new (used) d series tranny can be easily found for $200-400. most people just run them into the ground, and replace it when necessary.
as far as building it up goes, i have no idea what the aftermarket has in terms of gear sets, synchros, etc. for the d series. i tried looking, but didn't find anything - ats and other compaines make a ton of good stuff for the b only.
you could just get everything in there shotpeened and cryotreated - that will help your cause out a lot. but for the cost to do that, you could probably buy 2 replacement ones.
