88 EF distributor question
I just recently bought a civic a few days ago. It's throwing a CEL code 8. From what I understand is that I need to replace the distributor, correct? If so, what is involved in replacing the distributor? What do I need to do as far as the timing since i don't have a timing light? I've never replaced one so I appreciate any help.
go to vato zone and get a dizzy its three bolts too remove then swap them out if you dont have a timing light i think they may rent them if not go to a mechanic and have them time it shouldnt be too much
make sure you get the rotor screw nice n tight so it doesnt come off causing

you could but there wouldnt be a mark on the new dizzy
i would do as much as i could and have some one else time it or buy a timing light

Well I took of the cap of the distributor off today and discovered the rotor is turning freely because there is no set screw in there? Anyone know what size that screw is? Oreillys can't tell me. They sell a pack with the rotor and screw but all I need is the screw.
Turns out no oreillys or autozones carry the screw at all even with the rotor and cap kit.
Anyone out there able to tell me what size that set screw is on the rotor? I'm gonna call Honda tomorrow and see if they can tell me.
