To the high mileage Accord owners, who's car burns oil, what mileage did it start burning oil?

My 94 Accord started burning oil now at 225k miles. It burns about 1qt per oil change. Before, I had no oil burning.

EDIT: I change my oil every 3,500 miles most times, sometimes up to about a max of 4k if I am late on a oil change.

 

my old 96 accord ex auto(f22b1) had about 350k miles on it and never burned any oil at all. that was the most sound engine i have ever owned

90 accord ex 4dr f22a4 5 spd
starting burning oil at about 210k. at about 220k now and it eats oil like crazy can't go above 3.5k rpms without the smoke from the tail pipe

94 prelude h22a1 5 speed
212k miles and it eats a little oil when in the higher rpms. i do deliver with it right now. i add about half a quart every 1-2 weeks

 

my 91 EX coupe with 194,000 miles burns about 1qt every 500 miles, but it does not smoke unless I accelerate hard.

I have a 94 EX with 222k that burns no oil what so ever. I change it religously at 3,500 miles so that may have something to do with it. How often do you change your oil?

 

My 97 accord 4 cyl was using oil from 89,000 miles on. It never smokes, but uses 1 quart every 1000 miles now. I am at 200,000 now.

 

wow thats a very ocd oil changing schedule. may have something to do with you not burning oil. my 96 ex never burnt any oil either and had over 300k. changed its oil every 5-6k. though i always used mobil 1 too

 

Just bought a 99 accord in july with 277,000 miles on it and i put 4k on it since july all city driving and it doesnt blow smoke out or burn oil or anything i havent had to add oil or nothing in 4,000 miles so i guess its not lol

 

231,000 here and no oil burning.

Was losing some a for a little while, but it was from my valve cover gasket leaking.

 

96 b2 255K and leaks but dont burn lol

 

193k and no burning oil

 

201k and 180k on two Accords and none of them burn any oil.

 

Hi there! My 92 cb7 5 speed ! Just got it and I'm wondering about the oil burning. Im gonna say it does burn only when I go above 3500 rpm!

 

I'm at about 185,000 miles and still don't burn oil..
I was leaking fairly badly but changed the crank seals and im good to go again...

My car was NOT maintained that religiously until about 2 or 3 years ago and i live fairly high in the revs...

The point im trying to make is that Honda engines are as reliable as you are ever going to own.. Built to last forever

 

I change my oil every 3,500 miles. If I slack off on a oil change, it might make it to 4k miles. I owned my car since 2002, with 85k miles on it.

 

My 1995 Accord LX ABS F22B2 has 172k on it and burns zero oil. Recently changed the muffler and the tail pipe is amazingly clean. That said I do have a drip that I believe is the oil pan gasket? Anyone know if this is endemic to Accords?

 

Mine burned a little when I bought it at 199k, but when it slowed when I replaced the spark plug tube seals.

 

94 exr coupe 277k doesnt burn anything, even when accelerating hard. guy i know has a 96 sedan 307k says it burns some oil. but its in much worse shape then mine.

 

405 000 km on mine its a 96 and it burns oil what i think alot. i use about a liter in 2 weeks of driving. any suggestions on what it could be? i re did the valve cover gasket cuz it was leaking a bit.

 

I wish I could find out where the oil goes in my 4 cyl Accord with 200,000. Bought it used and it has used varying amounts of oil since 89,000 when we got it. Never any smoke at all. Anyone else seen this?

 

320,000 on my 96 LX sedan,and it uses oil pretty bad.Oil level was full on Fri but by Sun it was 2 qts low,and I really didnt go but maybe 200 miles.Smokes bad on startup but quits after it warms up,and I never see any smoke in the mirror unless I get on it hard.I suspect faulty/worn valve seals so going to replace them soon.

 

175,000 on my '99 4cyl. I change oil every 6,000 miles. It's usually down about a quart when I check it just before the change.

I have gone through oil faster, but it's typically when I've engaged the VTEC quite a bit.

 

My 94 has 240k and the only time I have to add oil is when I change it. If you change your oil when your maintainance indicator turns red and don't dog your car,your engine will practically last you forever
