Default "michael's" 1992 Honda Civic Hatch ** Save A Hatch **

So as this story starts as most humble ones do.

Parting out a 95 coupe on craigslist, "Michael" buys a tail light harness from me for 5$. A little while later, calls me back about a front cut, sure... comes and buys it. A little while later " hey I cant find anyone to fix my car, can you? ". So we agree on the job, turns out to pretty much be a full on build.

Known Problems: Dash not installed, Dash Harness Cut (previous Integra dash), No Brake Lights, No Reverse Lights, Wrecked front end, hacked up motor mounts / tranny floor (h22 before), Weak paint (white over red), No swap.

Accomplished: Replacement Apron, Replacement Core Support, Replacement Mounts (Welded on replacements), Weld Holes up in Fire Wall, B16 Swap.

Plans: Tuned up B16 Swap, Mini Wire Tuck, Fix Dash / Wiring, Brake Light / Reverse Light Wiring, possible body work / paint.

The Owner is excited tho, after nearly 3 years of ownership he finally gets to drive his car.

Its a slower build, its on payments and we already have a ton of things going on around the shop, but will post updates.

So nothing like buying a "quality motor" off craigslist.

after a 4 hour drive, and a bunch of bs he ended up with this 2000 b16 swap, its got issues but at the price he paid, he'll end up with a better motor then what he could of bought.

Mind you the owner of said swap warranted it to be running driving perfectly no problems, bolt in and go... Ill post up his info so least it will pop up somewhere that hes a scammer.

Hey look at that quality intake manifold gasket.... None..

Not a Single Cam Cap or Head Bolt was torqued to spec.

the icing on the cake, the re-used copper sprayed head gasket...

So we are going to send the head into the machine shop, get it cleaned up and a few broken studs extracted, Hopefully everything is within spec. Gonna Pull the oil pan this week and check all the bearings. Cams and valve terrain look good, cylinder walls don't have any scratches and still stock sized pistons.

Over all on this swap, missing/broken: Fuel pressure regulator, half shaft, axles, flywheel dust shield, Crank Key, rear timing belt cover, shifter (bizarre to get linkage but just the shifter is gone), 3 broken exhaust manifold studs, 2 broken valve cover studs.

Updates as the project progress's.

sleeve is scratched, so we are parting this motor and moving onto a ls w/ a b16 tranny,

All assembled and ready to be dropped, just ran out of time for the day.

More to come.

Sitting and waiting, Michael came by and dropped off aftermarket exhaust, intake and a new battery.

Gotta weld up some holes in the fire wall then the motor should be ready for installation, at this time we have to rattle can the engine bay but maybe fixed someday when budget permits get it painted.

Janky Fuel filter placement / shitty flair

Fixing back to OE Filter / placement.

look closer...

Yeah its cut and leaking...

Re-purposed Integra Brake Line

All Fixed.

DC2 Sub frame install / Power Steering Install

As far as motor goes, its about done in the bay, everything is hooked up, gonna mini tuck the chassis harness, loosely fit front end and done, hes doing final fitment at home.

This is the next big challenge, trying to get everything working again and original...

are you just trying to get it running again, or doing a full-on build?

Got a little bit more work done, tied up most of the loose ends in the engine bay.

Video is of its second time running, then about 4 hours later after finishing tons of stuff we were able to take it out for a drive, pretty quick with the b16 tranny.

Runs great, doesn't over heat, after noticing that the fan plug was cut off...fixed now.

Still got a few more parts to get before it can be re-assembled.

Got all the small problems fixed, no brake lights, no turn signals, etc... Got the dash installed, its drive-able status so as far as now its going home. I don't like charging people for labor for things they can do themselves.

End all hes too deep into the project because of original purchase price, but its a car he plans on owning a while. Between the metal work, blown motor, new motor, fixing bs problems it was just a little over 2k which isnt bad for everything considered.

So this project is a wrap for now.... Future plans are looking towards a turbo setup.
