Can my B18c1 Make LS/Vtec Power?
I’m looking for LS/Vtec power out of my B18c1(4dr.GSR) without boring the block or forced induction. I’m planning to raise my compression up to around 11.5 – 12.0 and add a type-r head w/ Skunk2 stage 2 cams. What more will I need to do to get my 4dr. to run with LS/Vtec coupes? I feel I need to be around the 200hp w/130 - 140ft lbs of torque to the ground to compensate for my extra weight. PLEASE HELP.
Ok... first you read everything on this site. Then you read every article on Hondalife and The Old One, just don't believe he has a supercharger kit. Then you go out and read even more stuff because as you read you will find even more stuff to read. You are probably going to find that it's harder to make B18C1 power from an LS/VTEC, not the other way around. Research research. When you think to ask a question instead hit search, and know that when you make a long list of mods that you may do no one is gonna take you seriously and no one knows how much power it is gonna put out, there is no imagination dyno which would have to be even less accurate than the butt dyno (if you read you'll learn all about that, whole other story).
I almost agree with the other guy...
You should search first, but sometimes you won't find what you're looking for. The search feature here is tricky...
And, you will be able to produce more power to an extent with a N/A LsVTEC, as long as both motors are stock, due to the higher compression in an LsVTEC versus a B18C1. Building one, it's a toss-up. Depends on who you talk to. I'm a B18C1 man, as I've heard of reliability issues with LsVTEC's. Just me, you might be different... I'm just running what I've already got...
Read up on some magazines, and read a lot of the tech stuff. Look at the cars featured, and see what they're running, both equipment and power/times. Talk to people that build motors. Research...
Try http://www.importbuilders.com
I'm going to have them do my engine. They should be helpful, as they do both LsVTEC and normal VTEC engines...
And don't let anyone get you down on this board...

Revolveu2, good thing recommending him to people that know what they are doing. I don't have personal experience with importbuilders, but i sure as hell haven't heard anything negative and that's the word that travels quickest. Earlier I said this man would be better off not worrying about LS/VTEC power and instead should concentrate on his GSR motor. Granted, I did not say it in so many words, but you have to understand that this motor is built stronger from the factory. There is a diiference in the bottom end for a reason. He's already got a lot of advantages from the outset and his 200hp goal can be reached just as well with his B18C1. R/S ratio aside, the LS/VTEC is still a list of compromises, not a long list, but I know ther aren't any 200hp LS/VTEC's out there that weren't built. Rub his B18C1 the CTR way, tune it properly and he'll be damn close, and all on a motor that Honda built pretty damn well from the factory. Just my 2 cents.
Oh and by the way, nothing wrong with questions, just aslong as you use the answers right.
